Discovered Casa Mateo Restaurante while cycling, and it’s a gem. The owners, who speak English, are exceptionally friendly. The welcoming atmosphere and the warmth of the owners make it a standout dining experience.

I’ve spent 3 months on the island and I’m a foodie. This little spot takes the cake. The absolute best food experience; food and the owner go above and beyond.

I am American (The only type of American that exists) and I can tell you that the food was top knotch! They spoke English well enough, and they were very friendly. By far the best food and service we have had so far.

Unexpected discovery but well worth a visit. Surprisingly delicious food served where first impressions may deceive.

Great food! We had chicken soup and grilled fish, and also smoked cheese fried, which was served whith jam and some dried fruits. If you are near Pico de las Nueves, visit Casa Matteo.

I was visiting place during my cycling trips I used CASA MATEO as "pit stop" location to fill up my bottles and to drink some juice.
Staff is friendly and speaks English well.
Hopefully one day i can come visit and try their food too :D

Great food. Loved the ropa vieja (canarian chickpea stew) and roast lamb shoulder - so soft and tender, just falls off the bone. The guy seems to be the chef, waitor and bartender at the same time : 3 in 1 on a weekday! Impressive. It seems to be loved by the locals

Depuis 2 jours à Gran Canaria on décide de se trouver un petit resto typique du coin loin de la cohue touristique. Et bien cet établissement géré de père en fils et typiquement local vaut le détour. Très bonne cuisine, un prix plus que correct, un patron serviable une ambiance typique.....que demander de plus... Apéro, entrée, plat, boissons tout était parfait. merci bcp pour ce bon moment. Nous reviendrons...

Muy Buena comida casera a muy buen precio las medias raciones son grandes👌 yo repetiré seguro , un trato muy amable y un sitio precioso .lo recomiendo .

Descontenta con el servicio. Tardaron una barbaridad en atendernos y en servirnos. No nos pusieron pan y tuvimos que pedirlo en varias ocasiones hasta que nos lo trajeron. Pedimos para compartir varios platos y luego un plato para cada uno en total 3. Traen dos y el tercero no lo traen, por cierto era una garbanzada, plato que ya está hecho solo es calentarlo. Hasta tres veces lo pedimos . Por cuarta vez le decimos lo del plato y que ya no hace falta que lo ponga que traiga la cuenta. Ni disculpa ni nada. Nos trae la cuenta y sin más. Por supuesto no volveré a ir y no lo recomiendo en absoluto.

La comida es fantástica y la atención de las dos chicas muy buena. Las raciones están bien servidas y la relación calidad precio es inmejorable. Por poner un pero, el comedor es un poco frío, así todo es de sobresaliente si lo que buscas es comida casera sin mucho lujo. Volveremos

Entrañable enclave. Necesaria parada en carretera en cualquier ruta que se precie. Atención con cariño, ambiente tranquilo, y sabores de tradición.

Comida muy casera, sitio muy tranquilo y tradicional, buena vista y amabilidad. 100% recomendable.

Wunderschöner Ausblick. Wir haben sehr lecker gegessen. Das Steak war sehr schmackhaft. Die Bedienung sehr freundlich und alles Wünsche wurden sofort erfüllt.

Recomendable 100% bien de precio, muy rica la comida, la garbanzada espectacular y la camarera amable y muy profesional. Hacía mucho calor y nos añadieron 2 sombrillas en la terraza. Repetiremos.
