Mamma Chef That's Amore

After a day of walking among the sand dunes (don’t ask), we were really hungry for good food. Saw the reviews and came here for some good Italian food. And we weren’t disappointed!

The atmosphere was just like the restaurants in Bologna I’ve been to. Authentic modern Italian. The staff were amazing. Just like a family. The young man outside like a fun and playful little brother. The waitresses inside were the sisters and mama or papa chef in the kitchen. Everyone was very professional. We were neither hassled nor left forgotten. Our waitress… the dark haired lady (sorry for not knowing your name) was knowledgeable and polite. Then there was the food. For not having the local ingredients from the foot of mount Vesuvio, it was damn near close! The pasta was al dente and you could taste every ingredient in it. The fish was perfectly cooked. Smooth but still light and crispy. The bruschetta was just a little bit too sweet. I guess the tomatoes were a bit sweeter than I’m used to. Personal taste. I like to have balsamico on mine. But the bread as awesome and portion sizes generally were spot on.

We also got a starter dish with fried chickpea fritters served with ayoli. Amazing!

I thought that an Italian restaurant without pizza was going to be a gamble, but I was wrong. There are enough pizzerias around.

Absolutely fabulous place. Lovely authentic Italian food with a slight twist that we loved (especially the tiramisu)! Max who got us in there is an absolute gem. Very nice friendly waitresses who can't do enough to meet your culinary needs and a great professional and friendly Chef 👨‍🍳 👍. Lovely welcoming place with great food. 👍 I definitely recommend this place for a genuine taste of Italy 🇮🇹 😋 and we will be back 😋 ❤

This place was super close to our hotel so we decided to try it on our last night. It was delicious. The truffle pasta wasn't really truffle but delicious nonetheless. The tiramisu was with orange so a bit different and we enjoyed the crepe as well.

This is a new restaurant from when we’re were in Gran Canaria last year. We ate here twice and both times the food was amazing. There was no hard sell by the young man who was there to chat and answer potential customers questions. The waitresses were helpful explaining all the specials that were on over and above the menu. There is an excellent appetiser which is made from chickpea flour and is very tasty. I can’t praise this restaurant any higher. Just remember this is an authentic Italian restaurant with everything cooked from scratch and fresh pasta too! Just expect good quality excellent food. Photos are from first visit. My only criticism was maybe more ambient lighting for a more intimate dining experience.

One of the best food experiences I've ever had!

I had the fish tasting menu and cannot recommend it enough. The flavours all worked so well together and I had a clear plate after every course. The pasta is home made and you can taste the love put into it. This place is a true gem.

Salvatore was a wonderful host, extremely friendly and obviously very passionate about the food. If I could give more stars I would!

Best Italian in the area. Ate here three times in a week. Fairly decent wine selection. Amazing service and delicious food with vegan and veggie options. Great value for money. Best of all, well away from that awful shopping centre and in the next valley over near the harbour. Much more peaceful. Great bar next door too.

Fantastic authentic Italian restaurant with an excellent menu and great value. Helpful and knowledgeable staff adds to the experience. Maximilian welcomes all to the restaurant and advises what is available to suit all tastes. Highly recommend couples/ families to try this fantastic restaurant

I write and read many reviews to help others decide on where to eat. This is one we tried on the last night of our holiday, and wish we had tried sooner. We had the ‘taster menu’ which consists of 3 starters, followed by a pasta, then a meat/fish course and finally dessert and coffee. Every single mouthful was amazing. Certainly the best food we have tried in a very long time. If you want real Italian food, cooked and served by a real Italian family, give this place a try! We will certainly visit each time we visit Gran Canaria. Has only been open a couple of months, so do not let the limited number of reviews dissuade you. The staff were also amazing - very informative hosts explaining how each dish and pasta is hand made. Not just amazing food but without sounding cliché- an amazing gastronomic experience! Treat your loved ones to a meal here!

We really enjoyed it here. Went for the taster menu which allowed us to try lots of different dishes. The food is excellent with generous portions and their pasta is incredible. Friendly welcoming service and good value.

We went here as we were let down by the Taj Palace just round the corner. Lady luck was really on our side what a wonderful restaurant this is! The food is perfect, real honest quality food not over fancified yet so good taste wise that it feels its like michelin class, they must be made with precision and with the best ingredients. The staff really care about the service and are friendly and attentive and put themselves out for us (they must have been able to tell we were starving after arriving late). The meals the waitress explained are made from family recipes which have been passed down their Genovese family and this shone through in all our food. We only had a sharing starter and a first course but both were amazing. Price was also reasonable for the 2 of us, coming to €54 including drinks (1 beer and 2 bottles of water)

Staff are very friendly, I only had a small bite to eat, as I was just passing by.

However, we were treated so nicely, we will definitely be back to try their pasta dishes.

They gave a complimentary vegetable fritter, with a homemade alioli, the fritters were really, light, fluffy and tasty.

I'll definitely return for a proper full course meal

The pasta carbonara was excellent with crispy ham. The ambience was very cozy and welcoming.

What a find this place is, food is amazing, freshly cooked pasta. Best Ravioli I ever tasted. Amazing staff. I'm coming back for sure!!

Excellent and delicious food and besides a very friendly and professional staff. After reading other reviews it's indeed a really nice place to have Italian dinner. We would definitely come again. Also good options for vegetarians. We liked the chef's menu.

Great choice for our first holiday meal. Staff were wonderful and attentive and seated us promptly. Had a complimentary dish of cucculi (fried onion and chickpea thing with sauce) which were so tasty had to be stopped from eating them all! Shared 3 bruschetta one normal tomato, 1 pesto and 1 mushroom which were delicious. He had the ravioli tapas of 3 different fillings and I had sous vide chicken with canarian potatoes and veg which again were very good. A bottle of rosé and a water brought total to an excellent £52 including tip.

This new addition to the area brings a fabulous, homemade Italian back on the choice of eateries. The Tasting menu is a feast to behold, every course building on the quality of the one before. Maximillian operates front of house and his natural Austrian charm and wit brings a different dimension to the experience, aided by Yuri and Roxy this will quickly become the destination restaurantof choice.
We ate here twice in a week and will 💯 return again as soon as possible.

The food & staff were fabulous. Spinach crepes to start. Chateaubriand with sautéed veg . Homemade tiramisu to finish. Food us very good get the Port sauce it's out of this world.

We have eaten in many restaurants in Gran Canaria and all over the world. Last night we went by the Mamma Chef, we were going to the restaurants above but we got chatting with Maximilian who was greeting people outside and we decided to give this restaurant a try. It is very new, only been opened 4 months. Now I like Pasta, and Italian food, all types. We opted for the tasting menu. Well all I can say. Absolutely fantastic food. The Pesto Lasagna was possibly the best pasta dish I have ever eaten. From the starters to the desert it was all top quality. This is the best restaurant we have eaten at in Gran Canaria. The food, drinks and all the staff were great. Give this restaurant a try, you will not be disappointed.

Best meal we had all holiday!!! Pasta was so fresh service was excellent and the desert was the best ive ever had on a holiday!!! If your near this place it is a definate must
