Domus Oncinae

Lovely hotel in a beautiful and peaceful village. Room design is pleasingly simple, all is super clean and very comfortable. Juan makes a welcoming and genial host and the cooking is excellent. Well worth a visit

During all of my travels through Spain, this hotel has the best service and food. Their Lasagna is Michelin star worthy. My wife and I are ready to hop on a flight from the United States tomorrow for round two! Don’t miss out on Domus Oncinae in Leon!!

Had delicious full course breakfast this morning. It was worth it after the walk from Leon. With spacious and clean ambience will definitely book stay next time on the Camino. Juan has interesting historical stories to tell regarding the farm house on which it was built.

Incredible rooms with elegant decor and lighting. Large, super comfortable beds perfect to take a load off after a long day on the Camino. The walk-in super large showers with great water pressure and waterfall heads made this stay perfect! Check out the restaurant as well, the food was delicious.

Wonderful experience!
We traveled with a 2 months baby and stayed just for one night.
Arrived on a rainy evening after 7 hours drive from Barcelona. We had a warm welcome by Daniel, who provided a smooth and fast check-in, and already made us feel comfortable, after long journey. The hotel design and facilities are great, themed as a Roman house "Domus", from the common areas to the rooms we loved it! Morning after we were greet and served breakfast by the "Manager" (which I don't recall his name) who made us feel like at home. Even it was a short stay, we had a wonderful experience! Now we have a favorite stop when traveling from Barcelona to Santiago!

The wonderful owners provided excellent accommodations. All our needs were fulfilled with a smile and some unusual requests we asked for had been happily addressed. Quiet and comfortable place to stay with delicious food and passionate staff. Highly recommended!

The place was gorgeous, the restaurant was delicious and the staff were lovely. Was a luxurious an affordable oasis on our Camino walk. Would definitely come back again!

Went for one night then stayed for 3 on way to another area of Spain. Just outside Leon it's on the Camino . Not a hostel but private rooms en suite. Very clean and comfortable. Good prices too..

Perfect room, perfect food, perfect service.

I recommend booking with them directly as their website actually works! (A surprise after many disappointing attempts to book directly with other places.) They really care about your experience and their reputation, so you don't need the reassurance of a third party booking agent.

You can feel the level of care and attention to detail in everything. I highly recommend this as a stop on your Camino after spending a day in Leon. Only 10 km walk from the city.

Brand new - beautifully furnished - simple and fitting to the environment - right at the Camino de Santiago

A big, big shoutout to the reception committee Rita and Susannah (sp?) and of course, Juan who went far beyond their reception duties to ensure our every need and want was satisfied. Modern and clean facilities at every turn … a true oasis on the Camino Frances offering excellent value for money. The shower and the breakfast are yet to be matched on the Camino!

This gem of a hotel is located on an alternate route of the Camino after León and is worth a special effort to visit! I suggest extending your Camino itinerary by a day to account for the few extra kilometers of the alternative route (or use a cab to make up the difference). Owners Juan and Fabiola gave great and artful attention to detail in renovating the farmhouse, which features an oven dating from the 4th century, and they go out of their way to make your stay enjoyable and memorable. They also share useful knowledge of the area, places to see, wines, etc. The hotel name and style touches highlight the Roman heritage of the town, Oncina de la Valdoncina. The food was the best I’ve had on the Camino, absolutely delicious. The alternative route is much more scenic than the regular Camino, which runs through an industrial area next to a highway. Another good reason to make Domus Oncinae a Camino destination, as I will on a future Camino or visit to Spain.

Recently refurbished and family run. You are made to feel welcome from the time you walk through the door until the time you leave. The rooms are very comfortable and modern … and the food they make and serve inthe restaurant is mouthwatering. The owners put a lot of themselves and their passion into this place and as a result this was a great experience all round.

Fantastic experience at this tasteful and welcoming place. A MUST if you are nearby or doing the pilgrimage. Beautiful and peaceful place. You can wake up listening only the nature. Super clean and the food is excellent. Definitely recommend. Price is great for the quality you get. 12km from Leon which is ok.

This has to be one of the best places, with amazing accommodation and food and exceptional service, and friendly, delightful staff that we have experienced in all of Spain!! You must, must, must, must stay and eat here!!!

Great hotel with minimalistic style, broad breakfast selection and a wonderful host, Juan! When I struggled on my camino in March 2022 having blisters I could perfectly rest here and the other day Juan even drove me to the next centro de salud in Virgen del Camino, best service. Muchas gracias :)
