Mezquita de Las Tornerías

The Mezquita de las Tornerías (Arabic: al-Mustimim) is a Moorish former mosque in Toledo (Castile-La Mancha, Spain). It was built in the middle of the 11th century, built on a foundations of Roman architecture, located in the old Muslim neighborhood Arrabal de Francos. Currently it houses the "Center Foundation of Promotion of the Crafts", that can be visited and attend temporary exhibitions.

The building continued maintaining the Islamic faith in Spain, well beyond the reconquista of the city by the Christian troops of Alfonso VI of León and Castile in 1085, until the period of 1498 - 1505 when was desacralizated by the Catholic Monarchs. Already as a building for civil use, it goes through various vicissitudes, first as an inn in 1505 and then as the headquarters of different businesses and small factories or as a simple home. Its history is lost until the late 19th century, where historians investigate its origins didn't know if it was a synagogue or a mosque. After the studies, the 15 March 1905 was officially communicated to the Real Academia de la Historia the finding of an Arab mosque in the street of the Tornerías.

The mosque was built on the walls of Roman drinking water tanks for distribution of drinking water throughout the city. The great unevenness of the terrain makes possible its layout in two floors which makes it unique. The ground floor, which is accessed from the street of the Tornerías, opens to the Roman deposits with arches of granite of half point. The upper floor, houses the place of worship, retaining remains of the mihrab and the wall of the qibla.

Its construction was made based in one of the main mosques that were in the city of Toledo, the one of the Mosque of Cristo de la Luz or of Bab al-Mardum, of the 10th century. Its plant is irregular square and the interior spaces are organized like that one in nine compartments of square plant, covered with vaticulous domes of brick, except the central one, with special relevance in its ribbed dome. It has horseshoe arches on low columns with large capitals.

Historians can not agree on its date of construction. can be in the second half of the 11th century, or in the second half of the 12th century.

مسجد أثري تاريخي؛ صغير في شكله الخارجي. يستحق الزيارة وتأمله .. أرجو أن يكون في الأيام القادمة مجهز ومعد ومفتوح للزيارة وأيضاً الصلاة فيه .

La Mezquita de las Tornerías o mezquita de la Casa de las Tornerías, es una mezquita de, probablemente, la segunda mitad del siglo XI, asentada sobre cimientos anteriores romanos, situada en el antiguo Arrabal de Francos, en la ciudad de Toledo, España. Actualmente alberga la Fundación Centro de Promoción de la Artesanía, que puede visitarse y asistir a exposiciones temporales.

El edificio siguió manteniendo el culto musulmán, incluso mucho más allá de la reconquista de la ciudad por las tropas cristianas de Alfonso VI de León y Castilla en 1085, llegando hasta el período 1498-1505 en que sería desacralizada por los Reyes Católicos. Ya como edificio de uso civil, pasa por diversas vicisitudes, primero como mesón en 1505 y luego como sede de diferentes comercios y pequeñas fábricas o como simple vivienda. Su historia se pierde hasta finales del siglo XIX, donde los historiadores investigan sus orígenes pensando que fuese una sinagoga o una mezquita. Tras los estudios, el 15 de marzo de 1905 se comunicaba oficialmente a la Real Academia de la Historia el hallazgo de una mezquita árabe en la calle de las Tornerias.

مسجد تُرنِرياس Mezquita de las Tornerias هو من أقدم معالم طليطلة . يرجع تاريخ بناؤه إلى القرن الحادي عشر للميلاد (عهد طائفة طليطلة) يقع في الشارع الذي يحمل نفس الاسم.

المسجد مبني بالآجور ومكون من طابقين٬ الطابق الأرضي يحتوي على بقايا مجمع روماني قديم ذو نظام لجلب الماء٬ بينما الطابق العلوي يحتوي على قاعة الصلاة. بنيته شبيهة للتي نشاهدها في مسجد باب المردوم الذي يقع على بعد بضعة عشرات الأمتار. مثل هذا الأخير قاعة الصلاة مقسمة إلى تسعة فضاءات٬ بواسطة أعمدة نحيفة و أنيقة٬ يعلوها أقواس حدوية الشكل. فوق كل فضاء قبة٬ القبة المركزية هي الوحيدة التي تحمل نقوش هندسية.

الأبعاد الصغيرة للسجد إضافةٔ إلى موقع قاعة الصلاة مع غياب صحن للوضوء يحمل على الظن أن البناء كان يستخدم كمصلى خاص لأحد وجهاء طليطلة. بقي المسجد المكان الوحيد الذي سمح فيه للمسلمي طليطلة بأداء الصلاة جماعة لمدة تناهز الأربعة قرون بعد الغزو المسيحي للمدينة سنة 1085 م٬ بعدها أستخدم البناء لأغراض عدة٬ مع الوقت نسي أصل البناء و بقيت ذكرى تواجد مسجد قديم في إحدى منازل شارع ترنرياس٬ حت تم إعادة اكتشاف المعلم بعد بحوث أرشيفية و ميدانية من طرف المركيز تورسيلا Marqués de la Torrecilla سنة 1905[1].

حاليا٬ المبنى مستخدم كمركز ومتحف لتطوير الصناعة اليدوية في إقليم قشتالة ومانشة.
