We actually visiter El Tamboril twice. First time we stayed on the terrace outside and ordered from the menu, in the evening. Second time we came for pintxo for lunch and sat at the bar. Of the two, i recommend the second experience for better service and atmosphere. The food was great on both occasions though.

Fantastic food in a cosy restaurant. The atmosphere is lovely and a great option for pintxos. The only flaw was not receiving one of our tapas yet being charged for it, but otherwise fantastic venue.

Oh, so good!
Simple one page menu in 4 languages. Delicious!

We tried to get a seat 4 times during our trip.
4th time lucky - food was as good as most reviews stated.

Mushrooms pintxos was served in a bowl with consommé - not the most expensive ingredients but cooked so well to bring out so much flavour - umami, savoury, aromatic.

The jamon croquette was one of the best we've tried in Donostias. Light and creamy inside, crunchy and crispy outside.

The most wonderful pintxos that I had in San Sebastián. They were fresh, delicious, and beautifully prepared. Be sure to stop by. No reservation needed for the bar, only the terrace. Try at least 3! The mushrooms and the egg with asparagus shouldn't be missed!

This place is fantastic! We arrived about 5 minutes after opening and it was already filling up with locals so we knew we were in for a treat. We ordered some jamon Iberico and the boquerones, plus a couple of cheeky glasses of Txakoli. Absolutely delicious!

Eating at this place was by far one of my top food experiences in the world. Don’t try to get a table on their patio because the prices are much more expensive versus eating inside. Just be patient to find a spot i side, order a drink and a few small plates and enjoy the delicious food. Highly recommend the peppers.

Best gildas in the area. The Guandilla beans are the surprise hit - amazing vegetables that serve as great snacks.

Sardines in oil well, friend shrimp top quality and balance as well.

This place was one of my favorites in San Sebastián. The gambas al ajilo are amazing, the merluza rebosada was great, also the roasted piquillo peppers and the tomato ventresca salad.

We spent one evening in this nice small bistro-like restaurant. The food was delicious, wine superb. Pricing was upper mid-range but not too expensive. It is a very crowded place in a great location in the middle of the old town. One must be able to make oneself noticed to get service, which is not a surprise in a popular place like this. We would definitely come again!

Pintxos tour stop 2. Enjoyed the txampis (mushrooms), pipas (prawns), gilda (first pintxo ever). Our guide paired this with Spanish cider.

Each time I go to Donostia this place is on my list for the pintxos. Typical and traditional food without a mistake. You have to try the Champis and the bocadillitos de jamón, perfectly executed classics.

Traditional bar located in the centre of the old towns Plaza de la Constitución. Run by twin brothers. With very nice pintxos: Txampis Tamboril, Pimiento relleno de carne.

Great natural wine selection from around Europe, loved the simple tuna dish in olive oil.

Excellent, Michelin-awarded place for delicate and unconventional pintxos with common "eggs" theme. Merluza rebolada is an absolute masterpiece! It's vibrant, crowdy place and you must fight a bit or be patient to make your order :)

Small restaurant with the best pintxos, I would not miss this in old town San seb! May need to wait for a spot but worth it for the freshness of food and good wine.

Love this place. Just be aware that there are two menus and if you get takeout or sit on the patio it is the cheaper and better option.
