Food is delicious, probably some of the best flavors in the area. Pintxos and small plates are a bit pricier than the average you'd find in San Sebastian. The kitchen is a bit slow for the larger warm plates, but the flavors compensate for it. Overall I'd recommend getting in line and giving it a try, especially in the early afternoon when the wait time is shorter.

Definitely the most upscale of pintxos experiences we had. All the spaces inside have a stool/chair and there’s actually an orderly queue of people outside the door. Definitely come early if you want to secure yourself a spot!
Mushrooms with egg yolk was exceptional - really intense mushroom favours, nice browning and caramelisation on each piece. A bit of bread to soak up the egg and you’re gold.
We really enjoyed the monkfish and prawn pintxo as well. Just perfectly cooked, fresh seafood. Nothing much to add.
Sausage pastry was amazingly good - very flaky and crispy pastry around a slightly spicy, intensely flavoured sausage with lots of cured flavour. Maybe the best version of a pastry-wrapped meat ever.
They also have grilled red prawn here - I like the they barely cook it so it’s slightly raw on the inside, resulting in soft and sweet flesh. It’s also sufficiently charred that you get a good smokiness to it. Needless to say the quality of the seafood is just unbeatable. I’m just not sure the prawn was worth the €30+ price tag for a single prawn.

My best meal by far when visiting San Sebastian (arguably in Basque country). It's always very busy and you will have to queue if you have not reserved a table, but it is definitely worth it. Inside is packed with people and there isn't much room to move but staff are friendly, the food is excellent, and there is a great vibe to the place.

This is a must do place. A Michelin restaurant where the food is only outdone by the server, Andony. He was fantastic. Each pintxo plate was excellent... the best chicken croquettes ever, the mushrooms, the spider crab tarts.... simply fantastic... by far our favorite spot.

Food, service and experience was the best among we tried. Great crowd control, best taste and experience. Even served drinks while we wait.. highly recommend

The best place in Sam Sebastian I’ve ever visited.
The food was super great.
Nothing I don’t recommend. Every single each dish would make you surprise.
You don’t need to hesitate to order, just ask them what you are curious about, if you were not full yet.
Actually you don’t need to visit other bar, but you must enjoy walking around there.
There are long line before open, I recommend you to go there 15min before open.

Expensive but mushrooms with foie gras was the best dish on our trip to SS. Artichokes were delicious also. We lined up until seats became available, which was a nice change from other restaurants in SS

Interesting combinations of flavours - really flavourful, special variety of mushrooms - very well poached and fried to bring out the umami flavour, mixed with a raw egg yolk to give it an even richer flavour.
Grilled prawns - super fresh - the prawn heads were full of juice. It's a shame that we didn't order the red prawns - will definitely find a chance to try again.
A lot of restaurants in the area closes after 3 and reopens at 7pm, time it right and you might just get a seat at the bar provided that you wait in the queue before it opens in the evening.
Otherwise, you'll likely have to queue and wait for the first round to finish. Very common in this town for good food at good restaurants!

There is a line to get in. We were waiting about 15-20 minutes. The food is superb!
The servers speak English.

Great food and service all around. Up scale pinchos with very fresh seafood and vegetables. Standouts were the wild mushrooms and egg yolk, seafood pinchos (there’s a lot), giant velvet prawn, etc.

I thoroughly enjoyed stuffing my face here - I could easily be a regular! I would always leave very satisfied. Highly recommend trying as much as you can, the menu is quite diverse, but the egg yolk mushrooms, foiegras toast, grilled skinny peppers, the monk fish and the asparagus were exceptional. 🤰🏻Worth waiting in line.

Best foie gras on toast we've tasted. Crispy on the outside and soft abd succulent inside.
Tried the mushrooms and egg as everyone recommended it and they were good and yummy as seasonal fresh mushrooms are used. But worth 20+ euros? Maybe not.
Crab tart was pretty good.
We waited for more than an hour though so unless you arrive to queue 15-20 minutes before you'll be waiting awhile.
You can also make reservations at the restaurant downstairs.
Service was also friendly enough.

We had dinner here and had a wonderful experience. Our two servers provided amazing and attentive service. They were incredibly busy so we appreciated the time they took to recommend dishes to us. We had tuna carpaccio that tasted almost like prosciutto, tear drop green beans in a delicious broth, signature mushroom and egg yolk, and sun beam fish, finished with a strawberry pepper yogurt ice cream dessert. Quality ingredients cooked “simply” but with some inventiveness too with the dessert. Well worth trying!

Be there early if you want a good seat at the bar. Good seat at the bar = easy to order more food to eat ❤
Order everything- prawns, mushrooms with egg yolk, pintxos, crab tarts, razor clams!
Double check opening times for your visit bec this was closed Sunday dinner ☺
Extra stars for super friendly staff!!

One of the two places I really recommend for general quality of pincho. A lot of variety and constantly changing menu is a plus.

Hectic place and delicious food. You probably will have to wait for a spot to open, but it's worth the wait. I down Minnie how the waitress are able to handle so many people so well

I had heard good things from a trusted friend, so I gave Ganbara a try at lunch today. It was amazing! The pintxos are made to order (at least the hot ones), and they're the best pintxos I've had in town. The service was also excellent. I asked the server to bring me his favorite dishes, and they were all flavorful, well textured, beautifully presented, and delicious! This will definitely be one of my go-to lunch spots in town. I was also really happy with the wine by the glass list. The Rioja Alta Viña Ardanza is one of my favorites.

Incredible spot. No wonder Bourdain came here 3 times! We were lucky to get in there right as they were closing at 3:30pm.
The tuna belly is phenomenal. The staple: foie grass with mushrooms was mind blowing. Honestly all of the options were impeccable.
This is 10000% worth the wait. One of the best meals I’ve had in Europe.
