OMG... I can't say more... this was ABSOLUTELY impressive... a meal to remember all my life.
I can still taste the wonders of this meal in the back of my head...
Do not ever miss the mushrooms they offer out of the original menu... to die for.

We had a bit of all the main things offered and it didn't disappoint. Fairly priced wine and simply delicious food.

Quality food and dining experience! Make sure you get the famous kilo steak on the bone. It was juicy, well cooked and glad we got to enjoy Basque region cuisine. It was recommended by the staff at our hotel. Was delicious and one meal my wife and I will remember for years to come!

The best steak ever. The Chuleta de Vaca, a côte de boeuf, melts like butter on the tongue and has an exceptional flavour without needing extra pepper. It is a dream. The picillos are also worth having as a side dish. Rustic interior without frills, just the way I like it. Here, the quality of the raw materials and the food comes first, not the trappings. This is accompanied by very friendly service. I left the restaurant with a big smile on my face. Thank you for this wonderful experience.

This hidden gem is truly a treasure!!! The food, ambiance, and service are impeccable, a 10/10. My daughters loved the steak, and my husband and I enjoyed our cod and hake very much! We look forward to coming back again.

We had a phenomenal experience at Asado Portuetxe recently. We are not native Spanish speakers and I was a bit overwhelmed by the wine list as a traveler. The Son/owner took our order and our server was very helpful in suggesting a wine to pair with the steak, which was outstanding. I would highly recommend. The portion was large and could be shared by three people, we had enough for sandwiches the next day. We also had the white asparagus and a salad which were both very good. Even though we were full, we went with the strawberry cheesecake for desert after the couple next to us ordered it...fantastic. I highly recommend this place, it is a unique location and quite a ways away from the city center but certainly worth the trip. This was our best meal in Donostia/San Sebastian

The food was delicious! Had the grilled green peppers, artichoke, grilled prawns and fish chins (kokotxa). All highly recommended. Service was very friendly too.

We arrived at 13:15 as we did not have a reservation. Although puzzled to begin with a helpful patron pointed us to the closed door on the left. Once we entered we realised we were the first to be seated however customer service was friendly and by the time we left the place was full of locals. The beef was fantastic very moist and cooked to perfection ! Would love to come back and try the fish. The wine also great selection and very affordable.

We really enjoyed a fantastic long lunch here. The mariscos and steak were of the very highest quality. The service could not have been better, and the wine was good value.

Awesome restaurant. Perfect seafood, fish and meat. Must visit when you are in the area.

Absolute MUST DO. Incredible food, great wine cellar, nice staff (even if they re busy). Special mention to the female sommelier who even if she doesn’t speak much english have very good recommendations if led a bit on what you like. And choosing the wine directly in the wine cellar is clearly a plus.
Also - dont eat of the entire day before you go there haha

Terrific food, probably some of the best I ever had. Service was a bit slow in the beginning, but speeded up during the course of the meal.

Rustic decor in abundance with food cooked to perfection on the charcoal grill.
Seafood or steak, its just sublime finished off with the nutcase for dessert. Just go there, you won't regret it.

Sum it up …Simply hidden gem to indulge basque country food…

Tucked away, quite frankly in the middle of nowhere, serving incredible, unpretentious and simple, well seasoned and cooked over coals cuisine. We went for the steak, 1.1kg between two at incredible pricing (<€38/kg), which was superb - deliciously dry aged, cooked over charcoal , and seasoned aggressively to perfection. A great selection of local wines too. Highly recommended.

Everything about this place was exactly as I hoped. Simply and perfectly grilled meat and fish, and delicious starters combined with a very fairly priced wine list to make for a truly wonderful dinner. Thank you!

The feast we had this evening was out of this world. We had 2.6 kilos of meat for 4 people and the satisfaction was amazing. All the other dishes met our needs perfectly.
