Nestled among several tempting restaurants, Mendaur proved to be a delightful surprise during our quest for the best Pintxo in town. From the moment we set foot inside, we knew we had stumbled upon something special. The aroma of sizzling squid enticed us, and one bite of the super-seasoned and tender dish confirmed that we had made the right choice. But the culinary adventure didn't end there. The truffled rice and taco with shredded meat were culinary masterpieces in their own right, each bite bursting with irresistible flavors that left us craving more. Such was the allure of Mendaur that we found ourselves returning the very next day to indulge in its culinary delights once again. With its impeccable dishes and inviting ambiance, Mendaur is truly an unmissable gem in the culinary landscape. Don't hesitate to experience it for yourself.

Incredible gourmet pintxos. Excellent presentation of the dishes and challenging flavors and combinations. Taste as many different dishes as you can! A true ambassador of San Sebastián’s culinary tradition (pintxos category).

Phenomenal pintxos! They had some very interesting food combinations but they all worked very well together and were absolutely delicious.

The well presented, extremely tasty food at MendaurBerria was some of the best food we had eaten in the old town of San Sebastian. The truffle risotto was a highlight amongst all the delicious food we ordered.
Highly recommend for anyone wanting a fantastic sit down meal.

Superb food, especially the squid tacos, the egg mendaur and the iberican bacon. Friendly and accommodating staff who gave us recommendations. The sangria was lovely too! Definitely worth trying when you're in San Sebastian!

Had a great visit to MendaurBerria. We had the truffle risotto, pork leg with mole, and croquetas de jamón which were all delicious! It's more spacious and not as rammed as some of the other popular pintxos bars which meant we were able to get a seat at the bar

Amazing restaurant, came here just for a coffee to do some work… ended up nearly having their entire menu in one sitting! Highly recommend all the dishes, my personal favourites were the fried squid taco roll, Veal cheeks and Pork bone marrow taco wrap!! Honestly the food is so good, and the staff were amazing too! Would come back here if I’m ever back in SB

7 squid taco was solid but too saucy, risotto foie gras was very good but not the best I had. Portion sizes and prices slightly higher here, and you sit at tables. Worth coming back here with a reservation for a slightly upscale pintxo experience

Among the best pintxos in San Sebastián and Bilbao. Especially the squid taco, the tomato (so underrated) and the best is the huevo.
the waiter was really nice. And let’s be honest that is not expensive for such quality

Omg 5-star all around! The dishes were delicious (especially the squid), drinks were fresh, service was friendly and the ambiance was super fun yet calm. You can order calmly and speak to the waiter / waitress. I didn’t feel so stressed to order and didn’t need to eat my food on the street like with other pintko bars.

You must go to this place if you are in the area. Pull up a stool at the bar and order whatever you want from the blackboard. All of the plates are freshly cooked in the kitchen. Make sure you try a bottle of ceder or txakoli ( white wine of Basque Country). Richard & Edurne will look after you

Second favourite place in San Sebastian. Owner was super welcoming and took his time to advise us on what to order. I don’t think I have ever eaten such tasty padron peppers (though they weren’t actually padron peppers). The risotto was also delicious.

Amazing food, we ordered quite a few dishes to share. They were all fantastic especially the risotto and calamari. Highly recommend to visit if you are in the San Sebastien area.

This was an amazing surprise. The food was exceptionally good, some dishes even michelin star quality - the 'huevo mendaur' (eggs and truffle) and brioche bread were the standouts. The atmosphere was bustling and the staff were doing an amazing job making sure everyone was satisfied. And the food and drinks were coming out faster than expected. Loved it!

You are a fool if you don't stop here! I have no idea what wizardy they're concocting in their kitchen, but this is absolutely wild.
We didn't know where to begin, so we asked what are the more popular dishes. We stared with the Ceviche - "homemade 'Leche de tigre', red onion and coriander", but be warned, this is a pretty spicy dish. Next, our Tacotalo arrived, a "squid tempura with kimchi's alioli sauce", which was incredible. It was very difficult to split this in half as it was so tasty. Our Ibirian Bacon, with guava bittersweet sauce and onion pickled in soy and lime arrived next. This was an incredibly tasty dish and my second favorite of the meal. Finally, our Truffled Rice with seasonal mushrooms, black truffle oil and grilled foie completed our main course. Most of this was devoured before my eyes but I had a few bites and it was, indeed, delicious.
Their house special Sangria was the BEST we've had thus far in Spain. We discussed how poorly States' Sangria pales in comparison. No joke, it tasted like Hawaiian Fruit Punch without even a hint of alcohol detected making this delicious drink dangerous.
To round out our meal, we finished with dessert, appropriately named, Sphere. Served in frozen glass orb, cookie crumbs, apple and mango compote covered in a white rum foam, with what i can only describe as "pop rocks" (they have the same POP effect but I doubt it's that), this was a very memorable dessert I won't soon forget. It was absolutely delicious and it became a battle for the final bite. This may very well have been the best meal we've had thus far in Spain.
AND MY GOD! LOOK AT OUR BILL! I AM STILL STUNNED AT HOW LITTLE WE SPENT, HOW STUFFED WE ARE, BUT MOST IMPORTANTLY HOW FREAKING GOOD THIS PLACE IS! It's going to be very difficult to explore San Sébastien's other restaurants and not have FOMO from more dishes at Mendaur Berria (they had an entire wall of limited time choices written in chalk).
This spot can get very busy very quickly. When we arrived, nearly EVERY table had a reservation time from 2pm-6 but there must have been maybe 6 other people dining. Fortunately, we got there at noon so we were able to take a table. When we left, there were only a small handful of seats at the bar available. Either get there early enough to grab a table, maybe sit at the bar or definitely make a reservation.
We are scheduled to have lunch tomorrow at a Michelin star restaurant, but if you can't get a reservation at one of them in time, I PROMISE, THIS IS THE NEXT BEST THING.
AND ITS AFFORDABLE! Disappointment will not be found here. Feast!

They make really really really delicious artichokes. It melts in your mouth and well-seasoned. Pork belly with this sweet sauce was also delicious. We loved it so much!

we found the place by luck. we asked a neighbor where does he recomend and here we are. we asked the owner just to surprise us with pinxhos. wow we were amazed. we tried all 6 plates. I do not even know all the names. I loved the meat ones. and the risotto with duck foies is my favorite. highly recommended!! lovely host!!

My favorite place in the city. The food was amazing and the service great. The pintxos, even in the small version, comes in good amount, you can easily share them and taste a few different ones. The foie rice was amazing.
