Very unique place that’s great to stop by for a few bites. Our favorite ones are the pepper and berry ones.

Don’t be scared by the thought of “berries” and “anchovy”. They actually go together really well. We had it 2 nights ago and my husband is still talking about it today. 😂

If you love anchovies, it’s a must place to visit! They are so tasty! My husband and I ordered about 20 pieces of pintxos, couldn’t stop eating) I must say it was a bit too much and we couldn’t sleep after that, but even with that I still believe this place deserves 5 stars! Would definitely come back!!!

ANCHOVIES EVERYWHERE. AND THEY'RE ALL AMAZING. If you're not a fan of anchovies because all the anchovies you've had prior to this moment have been on a pizza from pizza hut then come here and eat some real anchovies, like salty fish butter. Go get some

Txepetxa Taberna isn't just a bar, it's a sardine sanctuary! I dove into three different pintxo variations, each a celebration of the freshest, most flavorful sardines I've ever tasted. From the classic Jardinera , then Sea Urchin and then one with Olive tapenade , each bite was a revelation. The friendly staff, warm atmosphere, and buzzing energy made it a truly special experience. Txepetxa is a must-visit for anyone who likes sardines!

Amazing place to have a bite and drink some txakoli. We had the anchovies pinchos with sea urchin, spider crab and trout eggs. Zé at the bar was lovely and took care of us really well, giving us a great vibe to start out night of tapas around the Casco Viejo. If you’re looking for some nice home made croquetes this is also the place to stop by 😉

The anchovies are so good, even without the sauce, but different sauce flavors open doors of harmony.
I would go for creamier sauce as the anchovies are acidic.
Definitely I will be back.

Busy little bar with possibly the best anchovies in the whole of Spain. They serve other dishes but we couldn’t go past the anchovies.
Great service from the team also.

It's always very busy but definitely worth a visit. The anchovy pintxos are delicious and there are a variety of options to try out. Would recommend the spider crab pintxo in particular

Don't let your pre-conceived notions of what anchovies are get in the way - visit this classic, popular, and always-genuine joint and be awed by how they prepare these delicious fishies.

6.5 or 7. They serve anchovies with other things. The one with foie gras and apple sauce was really good. Also had the one with crab cream, also good but try another next time. Anchovies still aren’t my favorite but this is as good as they’ll ever get so it’s worth trying

Located in Donostia’s old town, this place is a winner for traditional Basque pintxos. The anchove with sliced peppers and onions on top of a slice of fresh bread is amazing, as is the ración de calamari, or plate of fried calamari. I enjoyed both with a caña, or glass, of 18/70 beer. The bartenders were both Basque and very friendly and the place was packed with locals and tourists. I highly recommend this spot.

The first Pintxos Bar I went to on my trip and I ordered 13 pieces here. 🤪 Usually I am not a big fan of anchovies, but they take it to the next level here. So delicious, so fresh 😻😋 and very interesting combinations! 5⭐plus and not expensive at all 👍🏻

Happened to visit here during an event with a parade going down the street so the bar was extremely busy. With that said, the service is impeccable. The bar culture of the area you have to throw yourself at the bar to order, but never fear, the servers will notice and remember you and your order, down to the order you order your dishes in. It was a delight to watch their elegant choreography of operating with order in the chaos.

The food is amazing. Flavors are well thought out, the anchovies in the pintxhos are paired well with many things, you will not be disappointed in their food and the service is even more fascinating to experience.

If you are in Donostia, this is a place you must visit.
Great quality pintxos, a fantastic and extremely kind staff and a fantastic atmosphere.
Besides a wide variety of cold pintxos, there is a menu with many warm ones that are prepared on the spot. In this, you can find some traditional pintxos but also a list of "unusual" yet extremely tasty combibations. One example is the blueberry and anchovy pintxo... It really intrigued me and, once I tried it, I could not stop ordering it.
The quality of the ingredient is cleary excellent, including the bread (a component often underrated, but extremely important for a pintxo in my opinion). In fact, the pintxos are made with a freash and toasted bread: this contributes in enhancing the taste even more.
I speak Spanish so I had no issue communicating, but I was also traveling with an English speaking person who.was able to talk to the staff without any problem since they can speak English. Moreover, they are very useful whenever you need any suggestion/explaination. The steaff is also very fast and friendly.
Extremely recommended!

One of the great institutions of the Old Town. The Anchovy is the star of the show here. They have different and interesting combinations so treat yourself and give them all a go. A must visit for any pintxo crawl, simply delicious.

Simply amazing. Drop by and grab a beverage plus a few tapas for a great experience. Don’t expect to find a table as most people just eat/drink standing around on the street. Highly recommend this place.

Come here for anchovy pintxos. They have an English menu (see photo). They serve the fish on baguette slices with a variety of different toppings, which works very well. We tried 5 types for 11.50 euros and enjoyed most of them.

Hands down to the best pintxos bar in San Sebastián, or at least my absolute favorite. Have the trucha and erizo ones and you’ll never be the same person again!
