This place exceeded our expectations!

We were recommended. This was our best meal in Basque so far (and we had already eaten at 2 Michelin starred restaurants)

The space was casual and did not reflect the sophisticated 8-course set menu.

The dishes looked deceptively simple but the flavors were surprisingly innovative and distinct. We love the fresh oyster with wasabi ice-cream, the fried sea anemone and pan-seared turbot. The best item was the charred pork with spicy mole. The strawberry sorbet with honeyed sheep milk was delightful.

The 2 bottles of recommended wine were unusual in a good way. We had not had those wine before and loved them.

The service was impeccable. We will come by again if we do come back to San Sebastián.

This place is a underrated and deserved more recognition.

Amazing diner! A lot of local products and a passionate chef and staff! The courses are served out in a good pace and the paired wines are special and really have good stories with them.

Sophisticated genuine flavor version of some traditional Basque dishes. The tasting menu is the best option to get the true experience. I had the best time, wonderful service and would recommend "Galerna" to anyone who would like to try new foods with a twist. Bear in mind that some of the portions of the dishes in the tasting menu are very small and keep you more 😉

Great place to have dinner with friends and /or partner! The chef delivered complex dishes with elaborate flavors and plated to perfection. The only negative thing was that the service was a bit slow but I wouldn’t hesitate to come back! Highly recommended

Beautiful cozy place hidden away in a bright white cellar.
Locally sourced food with bright flavours, matched by the light and fresh Spanish wines. We were well taken care of by the joyful service. A perfect little trip (in)to the ocean.🐳

We were greeted warmly by the chef and owner, Rebekah. She was passionate about her cooking and using the freshest local ingredients to pair with wines from the region.

The pintxos starters were stunning especially the trout toast and the croquet with caviar. We could have been so happy to have another round of the pintxos. The Hake was perfectly cooked and the deer was tender and paired beautiful with a Rioja. All the dishes were beautiful presented. The three desserts were scrumptious as well.

Wonderful culinary experience of the Basque cuisine!

The place is charming. Small. But attentive staff and courteous staff. What makes this place is the food and wine combo. The chef has mastered the perfect cooking temperature of the fish and the meat. Her force de jour is the reduction sauces. You don’t leave feeling stuffed. But just there to allow you a rest and a round 2 somewhere else in San Seb!

Rebeka Barainka is a quiet yet interesting person. She let's her food do the talking and this it does like the power of a wave crashing into the rocks on a stormy day, flavour after flavour of the wonderful region is brought unintimidatingly to our table by a super friendly and knowledgeableable (possibly) Maître d

Had the best meal of our food adventure to San Sebastián. Greeted by the chef with an amazing welcoming feel. I cannot rate the food in this place enough! Absolutely incredible.
Such a shame it wasn’t packed out with people because it deserves it. Maybe they need to sort out the interior a bit better. The lighting was probably a bit too bright and felt a bit clinical…. But the food was immense.

Excellent restaurant! Very highly recommended. Very creative dishes with beautiful presentation. The price was reasonable for the quality and creativity. We also met the chef, and she was wonderful. I will definitely return on my next trip.

If you're in Donostia/San Sebastian, we highly recommend Galerna. The experience is just so intimate and simple. The food was both humble and elevated. Chef brought at least 3 selections to our table personally. He spoke with each table and really made it fun. Our waiter was unbelievably knowledgeable and informative. Not to mention just an amazing person.
All this wonderful food with some amazing old school SKA and 2-Tone.

We had a fantastic evening at Galerna. An amazing selection of selection of different foods served in wonderfully mind-blowing combinations. The evening would not have been so enjoyable had it not been for the delightful company of our waiter Joe, who was incredibly patient with my partner's attempts at Spanish. Rebekah the chef was warm, welcoming and shared her vast knowledge of the foods she had prepared with us, which was fascinating. Hasta la vista!

How is this restaurant not ranked at the top of any searches is unreal. The food is amazing, every dish delivered with a great wine pairing and a great service. There are two restaurants in Spain that are memorable to me. One is in Terragona, but in first place in my list, and climbed very quickly after the first bites, is Galerna. Served directly by Chef Rebecca Barainca, the experience was tremendous. And please, try the Malus Mama pairing. A 2013 splendor. 3k bottles produced only. Very lucky to had the privilege to enjoy a glass (or two). Please visit. A must while in this beautiful town.

Excellent restaurant, friendly and helpful staff, innovative young chefs, really enjoyed the food here.

Five dishes between two, the highlights were the fish dishes:
Raw mackerel with a sauce I can't recall by name - the best mackerel dish I've had
Red tuna with wasabi ice cream - fantastic (photo)
Lightly seared red tuna with white garlic sauce - delicious, outstanding!
Small pieces of Txuleta with a sauce I can't name but also fantastic
Gambas a la Plancha - good, but nothing special compared to the other dishes
Baked pineapple dessert :-)

Really good food and nice service. A little minus to the interiors with cold white light that could be better and more cosy.

I can’t believe anyone would score this anything but 5 stars!!!! We had 16 dishes over 10+ courses and every single one was absolutely phenomenal! The local flavours, local stories, and passion flows into every dish! One of the best degustation menus I have enjoyed anywhere. Having the owner and chef come and explain each dish and tell the story behind the matching wines was an experience in itself. You can’t come to San Sebastián as a foodie and not try this place!
