Restaurante Hierbabuena

We spent 6 nights in Spain, 3 in Barcelona, 1 in Valencia, 2 in Madrid. But, this is the best restaurant we had tried so far! The food is superbly delicious, the service is great, and dessert is awesome! And surprisingly the coffee is absolutely delicious! OMG 😱 And guys the view in this restaurant is amazing! Must try if you happened to come to Madrid or Spain 🇪🇸

This restaurant is beautiful. Food is amazing, together with great view of Toledo if you sit near the window. Tapas, main course and dessert is perfect. Friendly service.

Stunning location - the pictures don’t even do it justice. I wondered if this establishment would rely mainly on this and whether the food and service would live up to the surroundings. I was pleasantly surprised. We had the tasting menu and we loved it. In addition, the service was excellent. I highly recommend this restaurant; we’ll be coming back.

The level of service and quality of food in this restaurant is top class for the price and the ambience. We were seated at the table reserved for us by a very courteous member of staff. After carefully taking our orders, they served us an appetizer specially designed by their chef. We were offered an excellent choice of wines to go with the food. The food was excellent with a delicious blend of flavours. We chose the alcachofas and zamburiñas as starters followed by cabrito and bacalao. The dessert we chose the brichoe caramelizado con helado de Bailey's.
The overall service was great, with brilliant hospitality provided by the staff. They called for us a taxi on request which arrived in a couple of minutes.
This restaurant is fantastic and we would certainly return for lunch or dinner when we would visit Toledo again. We would highly recommend this gem of a restaurant in Toledo to enjoy a relaxing, delicious meal. We wish all the best to the staff and management of this fabulous restaurant with only one suggestion; please continue with your excellent level of service, both hospitality and culinary!

Scenic views, extraordinary food experience. Tempura oysters and lamb risotto were 6/5 stars. And the service couldn't have been friendlier. Sooo recommend. The prices are totally fair for the quality of ingredients and the creativity of chefs.

Delicious. Best spot in Toledo. Sorbet was tart and yummy as well as the cheese cake thing they served. The fish was amazingly tender and the sauce even better plus smoked at your table over charcoal. The beef tartare was yummy and good with a crunch. Best thing was the fish. Service was also wonderful and kind- they spoke slow Spanish so I could practice but also accommodated when I asked in English. Would recommend going for lunch to appreciate the view - sadly no view for dinner with the sun down.

My partner and I came here to celebrate our anniversary whilst on holiday in Toledo. The restaurant was recommended to us by family quite some while ago (2019), but this was the first time we were able to visit and we were not disappointed. Excellent food, flawless service, and a wonderful atmosphere in a great location.

We had an excellent table for dinner and the views. The food was excellent, served promptly, and unfussy. Photos attached show the starter croquette, one of the mains (the veal sirloin with foie gras) and two of the desserts (the chocolate lingote and the coconut mousse). As we mentioned in our reservation that we were celebrating a special occasion, we were also treated to some complementary canapés, an additional dessert (to celebrate the occasion) and one of our hosts came to finish off our evening with a shot each from a selection of drinks.

The service was incredible. We were made to feel incredibly welcome, and the little touches they added for our anniversary, like the additional dessert, gave us an evening to remember. Staff were attentive, but unobtrusive. Although visiting from London, my partner spoke Spanish and the staff did not force us to to choose between Spanish or English, which is normally what happens, so for those feeling like they wish to practice their language skills; the staff will converse with you in either of the languages, depending on which language you choose to converse with them in. So, for my partner, they conversed in Spanish, and for me, they spoke in English (whilst acknowledging any Spanish phrases that I attempted to use!)

To give you an idea of cost I've attached a copy of the bill in the photos. We found it to be quite a reasonable meal (~EUR 100) for a starter each, mains, breads, dessert, a few drinks (water and alcoholic) and a coffee in comparison to some bars we'd eaten at in the centre of the old town. Walking from our hotel in the old town took a leisurely 30 minutes, but you are far enough from the town centre to be away from the busy spots and crowds.

Lastly, for those disappointed by the view from their table (or wanting to avoid disappointment); I'm not sure if it makes a difference, but booking directly on the restaurant's website (which will require being able to read Spanish) nearly three weeks in advance secured us with a table with a view for the start of the dinner service (21:00) on a Friday night, which at the beginning of May means being able to observe the sunset from where we were seated; we were given the table one over from the table in the very corner (that table was not occupied until later on in the evening, long after the sun had set).

Toledo's true treasure for dinning, from it's vast wine list, to the delectable food. This place left us astound, the fusion of old world flavors fused with international taste is amazing, and displays the mastery of the chef. Finally can't say more about our steward Carlos, a true treasure, he was humble, friendly, and courteous to all our questions. A true maître ď.

Awesome view, perfect service, mouthwatering food, warm space, definitely must visit if around Toledo (all of what we ordered was marvelous, we ordered a burrata, pastrami de presa and foie crujiente that I didnt take pictures for, all must try

We had an incredible experience here. The food was amazing and we were treated incredibly well by Alina. She is an outstanding server. Out of all the restaurants we went to during our vacation in Madrid, Toledo, Rome, Barcelona, and Valencia, Alina was simply the best. We are now heading back to Canada and still feel amazed by her outstanding service. Thank you!

Our business has taken us twice round the world. We've been to hundreds of restaurants on the 5 continents. Hierbabuena overlooking the Tajo is one of the most impressive of them. We now live in Toledo and have been eating at Been for many years. If you visit Toledo don't miss the opportunity of booking a table, lunch or dinner. Staff and management delightful, professional, patient, tolerant of and practised in every situation that can arise. Food is magnificent, service spectacular, atmosphere easy going and immensely warm. Go there. You'll love it!

Has been the highlight of my Toledo trip with excellent food and service. I was offered half portion of two different dishes which allowed me to also enjoy an amazing dessert! The food is so delicious that you feel it's prepared with a lot of love and care. They have great vegetarian options too. Will definitely come back! 😍

The best place in Toledo! Menu with different options, for different tastes. Tasting the delicacies is an unforgettable experience. Good wine list. Great service!

We had an excellent tasting menu for an incredible €45. From what we could gather, Hierbabuena had one Michelin star around 2016. Yes, maybe here and there the food is only 99% perfect, and the service was ok but not over the top great - however, at the price it's clearly 5 stars on here! If you reserve in advance, you'll be able to get a table at the window with stunning views of a lush valley. Plus, walking from the train station via the mirador to the restaurant gives you great views of Toledo from the opposite side of the river and works up a nice appetite!

A bit more formail-ish in presentation than many establishments in the area. While the staff are dressed in ties and black dresses, guests dress in anything from the same to shorts and t-shirts. Excellent food, good Spanish wine list, beautiful scenery, and attentive staff. Recommended.
