Mosteiro de Santa María da Armenteira

We spent a night at the Santa Maria monastery while walking the camino. We had a lovely stay. The room was spacious, clean and had everything we needed. The sister who attended to us was very kind and helpful
A highlight was a service for the pilgrims' blessing by the nuns. The restaurant just outside the monastery was good for breakfast, lunch and lunch and dinner.

A quiet, inspiring space on The Spiritual Variant. So thankful to be able to enter and visit.

Incredible place! Beautiful, peaceful and unique! It's not often you can spend a night under 8th century roof. Thank you!

No public access expect of mass

Very peaceful place to spend the night while walking the Camino Espiritual. Room with private bath. Curfew at 21:15 but you can sit outside within the walls in the garden.

A truly and memorable experience. The peaceful surroundings and the sense of history and tradition made for a very calming and reflective stay

A small monastery on a busy popular hike route with a big restaurant with a big terrase that can get often very busy but we never had problems finding a place. Nice basic cheap food and drinks.

Along a section of one for the Camino de Santiago. All stone, is still impressive today.

Visited for the blessing of the pilgrims at 7pm. Very peaceful.

If you decide to take a 6 km walk from the seqouia forest to the monastery, you will have a very pleasant surprise. A wonderful place, where you can eat and relax. Beautiful landscapes!

Very good place in a very small Village, really nice. There are two bar-restaurants where you can taste a local food and appreciate people friendship. You feel to be like home.

The perfect place for pilgrims walking the Variante Espiritual route. Arrived to a nice welcome, clean and modern room & bathroom, breakfast included. Beautiful garden for recovery after the ascent from Combarro. Common kitchen for making dinner (no dinner available from monastery but mini-tienda/bar/restaurant at foot of driveway. Perfecto!

Beautiful peaceful 16th Century Monastery with 12 th century origins like church & rose window. A popular stopping off point for pilgrims on the Camino Espiritual a variente of the Camino de Santiago on the Portuguese Pilgrims can get their credentials stamped in Office or shop where nun works between 10 am & 1:30 pm or 4.30 to 6.30 pm.

Beautiful monastery. The mass and blessing for pilgrims was really something. I will cherish the memory forever.

Great beer bar. With nice selection of beers and great atmosphere.

Little on the expensive side, but still ok I guess ...

Extremely quiet place. The nuns are very sweet, the hospederia is very nice and the pilgrims benediction it is a must.
