Monestir de Santa Maria de Ripoll

The entrance fee was very much worth it! The man at the entrance was kind and there are several things to see aside from the chapel.

Just great. If you have any interest in the Middle Ages at all, you must visit.

A treasure of the romanic architecture, this is one of the must-sees of any trip to Catalonia, or of any based on medieval history / architecture. The Monestir (a building halfway through a cathedral and a church) is a piece of Romanic style that goes back to the 9th century. Its main entrance features a massive sculptural piece from the 12th century (portalada) - a triumph arc depicting passages of the Bible's Old Testament: a truly unique item definitely worth seeing.
Inside, the main church and cloister offer magnificent views of the Romanic architecture in a really powerful and enveloping surrounding. Definitely worth spending some time walking and admiring it either by yourself or with one of the guided tours that take place daily (hours can be checked on the town's website).

Unfortunately we did not meet the opening hours. But place is nice

This was a stop for coffee and cake - delicious, but also the square and buildings. Lots of interesting buildings to look at and photograph. I got carried away but alas on camera not phone!

The gate of the church is very interesting only if you are familiar with the bible and christianity to some extent. The cloister is simply beautiful architecture

Nestled in Pyrenean foothills, Ripoll is a gem of a town with a monastery to which is a delight to see. The monastery dates from the 9th Century, and has persisted through every catastrophe both man-made and natural a building of this kind and age endures. Fire and earthquake are just two such tales that are woven into the fabric of the monasteries evolving architecture and purpose. A rare and imposing 12th century portico, on display at the monastery's entrance, is protected from the elements and greets visitors. Catalonia is rich in architecture and history, and Monestir de Santa Maria should definitely be on the hit list of things to see for anyone passing through Barcelona or Vic.

Excellent experience to learn about romanesque with a great and knowledgeable guide for some 3 extra euros

Impressionant! Cal remarcar la portalada amb una decoració molt detallada, amb escenes de l’Antic Testament, de Sants, representacions del que feien els pagesos cada més de l’any, etc. amb el Pantocràtor dalt de tot. Et donen un fulletó a l’entrada amb l’explicació de cada detall. També et donen un QR per escanejar que amb el mòbil et serveix d’audioguia. L’església és maca per la seva senzillesa estil romànic i cal veure també el claustre. Tot ha tingut restauracions posteriors i s’hi troben elements gòtics.

Muy buena la visita guiada,nos dejamos guiar por la oficina de turismo y fue un acierto.
