Dr. Hesham Rashed

Dr. Hesham is one of the most efficient and honest dentists in Egypt . He clearly describes to his patients the treatment process. He also uses the latest dental technology, the best material, and imaging. I had several experiences with the clinic and his staff are exteremely respectful and helpful. He also has his private dental lab which is an added value. He ensures his patients are satisfied with the results which usually exceeds their expectations. He regularly checks and follows up with his patients. I have done veneers, bridge , and root canals at his clinic. All my experiences were excellent. I have never seen a clinic in Egypt with such high degree of cleanliness, welcoming atmosphere and attention to details.

I am an american studying at Azhar university in cairo. I already have a bachelors degree in buisness in the states and decided to pursue a degree in egypt as well. I had a cavity and I started doing research on good dentists in the area and came across "top ten in cairo" web page. Dr Hesham Rashed was #4 or 5 i think. I read nice things about him so i decided to give him a shot. My first initial visit wasnt great. His receptionist is an old cranky lady who doesnt seem to know the job requirements of a receptionist to be cheerful and welcoming. She was very cold and rude. One thing i read about him is that he is very patient and will answer all your questions. This is so far from the truth. When i was asking him about an emax crown and how the process is done as it is my mouth and i feel more comfortable knowing the process he quickly shot me down and said dont worry about the process. This wasnt the guy i read about. When i started asking about prices with a pen and paper as i was doing my research he seemed really annoyed. He asked his assistant to get a price catalog which seems is for foreignors only!Every price is way more than what an egyptian would pay. When i visited other dentists none of them had this bias pricing except him. For example a cavity cost 900 egyptian pounds, anywhere else it cost betwen 500-600 pounds. When he looked at my cavity he said its a special case and its going to cost over 2000 egyptian pounds. He said it needs a special type of crown. I quickly replied i just wanted a regular filling done he said, "fine as you wish" in a very annoyed manner. When i came in to do the actual filling it was the worst experience i ever had in a dentist office. First of all his numbing shots absolutely did almost nothing. I felt so much pain when he was working on the tooth and when i advised him about it he said he cant give me more.shots it would cost too much money and he stopped using the drill and started manually scratching away at the cavity with a tool. When it was done i requested a cleaning which he told me was 600 pounds. So that was absolutely excruciating pain. And it seemed like he enjoyed the pain i was in because he said and i quote " are you enjoying yourself"? This guy seems a little sadistic and God is my witness i am not lieing at all about any of this. I was still trying to be polite as i was raised by great parents and i am muslim so i was practicing patience. I put a smile on my face and said thank you. When i proceded to pay for everything which was 600pounds for the cleaning and 900 pounds for the cavity the old cranky lady in the front said that the cleaning was 750. I told her it was 600pounds and that is what i was told. She made a call and said Dr Hesham never said this basically calling me a liar right to my face. If she was at all intelligent where else could i have gotten this price? I didnt just guess. This is what i was told on my first day and i actually had it written. What i think happened was Dr Hesham made a mistake and gave me the egyptian price without realizing it at the time. In anycase i asked to speak to him and she said she will give 10% discount instead. After leaving my tooth was still in pain. I came back and was told my Dr Hesham this is my fault and he warned me about the crown. Its like he was waiting to throw this in my face. He put more sealant which did nothing i travelled to new york didnt get to enjoy any restaurants i went too. Came back to egypt wasnt even greeted by the cranky receptionist. Told Dr Hesham still in pain he quickly said i can have my money back. He called me stubborn, and said i cant afford the better treatment. Mind you 2000 egyptian pounds is $117 which is less than lunch in the states. I just didnt want to pay for something i felt wasnt justified. Never would a professional in america do this. To all americans and foreignors dont be fooled by his office or "top 10 cairo page".This guy is greedy, unethical, and rude. There are plenty of dentists in cairo stay away from this one.
