A place with very distinctive and unique architecture. Unlike any other wekalat in Egypt. Now is restored and hosts local galleries with a beautiful sky view ceiling.

An amazing caravan serai from the ottoman era, used to be a main trading hub on the medieval trading routes. Important Historic landmark that is newly restored and renovated to be a heritage center for the city of Esna.

Wakālat al-Jiddāwī, Believed to be built by Ḥasan Bek al-Jiddāwī in the 1700s. The wakala (caravanserai) is overlooking the Temple of Khnum. It was one of Esna’s main commercial destinations during the 18th and the 19th centuries - being famous for the trade of many commodities including textiles, African ivory, and ostrich plumes.
