Ämari Pilots’ Cemetery

As of Aug 2021 the pin is in the correct location. There is no parking but you can park in the apartment building's lot near by. The cemetery is difficult to see from the road during the summer due to brush and tree growth. Overall worth visiting to see the unique headstones of Soviet pilots stationed at Amari who died during the Cold War.

Glad I stopped here. This is how cemeteries should be made to honor those who died. Neat design for the pilots.

If you're on a motorbike, beware of the soft ground on the track leading to the tree-line. Beyond that, it's a collection of tail fins from various aircraft with with inscriptions relating to crashed aircrew. Some of the inscriptions name up to 10 people which gives you an idea of how poor the Soviet Airforce safety standards were. Very interesting place to visit.
