Toolse fortress

Easy to find and access. Beautiful ruins in amazing scenery. A bit hazardous with small and active children 😅 Well worth the drive if you are into castles. Most northern Roman empire outpost.

Awesome castle ruins to check out, plenty of picturesque angles and ver accessible. Be forewarned - there's no rails or anything anywhere, climbing is purely at your own risk, so perhaps not ideal for smaller children, but definitely great for ages 7-8 and up!

Fortress worth of visiting. Free of charge and if you visit on workdays, there's a big possibility you're the only one on the site. It can be a little bit of confusing, since it looks like you have to go thru someones household to reach the fortress. But just follow the path and continue your exploration! + I suggest wearing a trainers, not flip-flops.

Loved it, the sight is breathtaking. When we visited we were the only one there. The whole place feels so mystical. Mist was flying over the sea, a little bit I felt like I am going to travel back time any minute.

Surprisingly nice. Well kept, access to all areas, nice nature and interesting info tablets. Saw tens of swans on the sea.

Almost untouched by any modern culture influences, this relict remains a mystic guard at the sea. The combination of stone and sea forms a beautiful mix. One can imagine the pride and elegance of this fortress once it was alive.

After a short walk from the parking lot you will be greeted by very cool looking castle ruins on sea shore and an old wooden boat. Good place to wander around and take some nice pictures whatever the weather. A must when in the area.

One of the best places to relax and unwind

Toolse frotress is the youngest fortress in Estonia with an estimated completion date from 15th century but there are some facts that real completion time was much earlier on the beginning of 13th century, nevertheless it’s in ruins now and open for everyone to discover. For me as a photographer this location offers good night sky photography options due to low light pollution. This location is also ideal for photographing aurora borealis ak northern lights.
