Hostería Paraíso Vilcabamba

There is another hosteria in the Vilcabamba area that we normally stay at and like very much. The prices are similar so we naturally found ourselves comparing Paraiso to it.

Paraiso lags a little bit in terms of room size and quality and the peacefulness of the location. However, it has a much nicer pool and spa area, a really fantastic free breakfast, and an outstanding staff that is really dedicated to service.

Our bed was comfortable and the shower was good with plenty of hot water. Our room was in the two-story motel-like building that has eight rooms. Unfortunately, the bed is just a couple feet from the window which is just a few feet from the walkway, so it lacks a little privacy. Next time, I think we will get a room with multiple beds in one-story building that backs up to the pool because there is more privacy.

Others have mentioned road noise and it is fairly persistent but is not bad at all.

We both booked massages and found them to be excellent. My wife needs a deep tissue massage and I prefer a light massage for relaxation. Sonia did both really well and it was great being able to use the hot tub to relax afterwards.

We recommend Paris and will definitely be coming back!

This place is a hidden gem. The staff and service were outstanding and extremely friendly. The grounds are beautiful and immaculate. The breakfast that was included in our room rate was great and the setting was perfect. The location is a quick 10 minute walk to the town center and very quiet. The staff truly wants you to be comfortable and they will help with transportation arrangements etc. You can't go wrong staying here.

I just go here to swim, jacuzzi, and sauna and love it. The service is great. I live within walking distance so I don't have a need to stay there. And they play the perfect music at the perfect volume in the pool area and I'm a musician who prefers silence over bad music. They seem to do everything right.

Everything about Hostería Paraíso exceeded our expectations! The photos simply cannot show how beautiful this place is. And our room and every facility were super clean and comfortable. The bed was awesome, the room was light and bright and decorated with local art. The pool and spa amenities were top notch, and we enjoyed spending almost a full day lounging around the property and enjoying coconut water and cocktails. The breakfast was fantastic and filling and served with graciousness and efficiency. The staff was amazing - their attention to their guests and every imaginable detail made us want to book a trip back to Vilcabamba and Hostería Paraíso in the very near future!

This place is absolutely amazing in every possible way! It is beautiful, tranquil, and clean. The location is great and is only a few blocks from the town square. I spent nine nights there and will hopefully be back. Jackie and her staff treat you like family and always go above and beyond. All of the food at the restaurant is fresh and delicious! The pool, jacuzzi, and saunas were great. I had a massage while I was there and it was one of the best I have had! I highly recommend Hosteria Paraiso if you are looking for a relaxing paradise that is close to Vilcabamba.

Was surprised how much I liked this one as the reviews were not in the high fours.
Hot water. Clean. Quirky fun set up. Nice staff. Good food at nice open restaurant. Just what we needed for our one night transition between eco lodges. Nice courtyard garden. Reasonably quite for middle of small town.

I just want to live in a beautiful place like Hostería Paraíso. Everything is beautiful, peaceful, clean and very professional.

I spent my last two days/nights at Paraíso. Found a fabulous price offering on their website. Staff are pleasant, welcoming and helpful. Meals were very good, with an option for vegetarians. Rooms clean and comfortable. Pleasant music plays and no sports on the TV in the dining space. ❤ Thank you for your kindest attention.

Excellent service and location just a few blocks from the downtown. Spend carnaval there which was very convenient to walk to the park at any time for fun and go back and relax in the pool, sauna and jacuzzi. Will definitely go back whenever I’m in town.

Amazing hosteria for a reasonable price. We found out my dog had cancer while we were staying there and we had to put him down. The owner was so kind when we got back she could tell by my face it had not gone well and gave me such a long and sincere hug. It meant a lot. The food is amazing and it is close enough to town to be convenient, but far enough you that you avoid the noise and can get a good night sleep. The pool is beautiful and they have one of the only if not the only hot tub in town.

We stayed here several nights in Jan 2022 and the place is AMAZING! The staff and accommodations are fantastic and welcoming and the food they serve is delicious. I don’t think we would have had nearly as good of a time in Ecuador had we stayed anywhere else and there will be zero debate as to where we will be staying should we return to Loja.

A true Paradise in Vilcabamba.

I booked a night here to surprise my partner with one night in Paradise (pun intended). The stay includes a lovely clean room, comfortable bed, spacious bathroom, use of the outdoor pool, jacuzzi, steam room and an amazing breakfast. We were spoiled with fresh juice, granola, yoghurt, jam, wholemeal toast, scrambled eggs and coffee. Our breakfast was so good, we decided to have lunch there too! Everything is extremely well maintained and served with lots of love and care. The gardens and the pyramid where they give massages really allow the guests to embrace the Paradise this wonderful family of three generations has created for all to enjoy. It's also possible to pay to use the facilities during the day for just $10. We really enjoyed our stay and highly recommend it to locals and tourists.

This place is a gem! We stayed here last week and also 5 years ago - both experiences left us not wanting to leave. The location is within walking distance to the center square (and we have 3 and 4 year old toddlers) . The staff and guests are welcoming from the start and open to giving multiple suggestions, like hiking trails, bird watching (which I normally don’t do but it was so cool), other places to eat, ice cream, etc. My husband is a picky eater and they were so accommodating. The set up outside our room was awesome - throughout the day we’d end up lounging around on the hammock or bench enjoying the garden.

Not sure if it’s the staff, flowers, hummingbirds, avocado trees, massages, pool, playground or the food, but my whole family loves this place. I’d recommend it to any friend looking to be in a cool town with an authentic experience. The beautiful Mountain View from the pool speaks for itself.

Needless to say we will be staying here the next time we visit Vilcabama.

The care and service are incredible at this family-owned hotel. The grounds are beautiful and very peaceful. If you are looking for an intimate, boutique hotel experience with several amenities (pool, steam room, restaurant, craft beers, massage facilities), then Hostería Paraíso is perfect for you. It is a gem in Vilcabamba.

The place is really nice, excellent location and amenities. Very clean and the owner is there to look after the customers-personalized care.
My husband and I are really enjoyed our stay there looking forward to stay here again.

Location on Google Maps is wrong. The place is actually about 1 km further west, a little bit out of town.
We've been there only for the restaurant. The food was really good. We had the lunch menu (they basically offer it the whole day) which contains a soup, a main dish, a desert and a juice for only 5$.
Loved it! We will be back!

Hosteria Paraiso was absolutely wonderful with all of the comforts of home. The grounds were magnificently gorgeous and truthfully, it is by far the most favorite place that I have ever stayed! The feeling of peace and tranquility came natural here. The staff were amazing and very helpful. The breakfast was the best ever as were all of the meals here! After staying eleven nights, I was saddened to leave. Thank you so much Jacqueline and Franklin for your outstanding hospitality!

The service at Hostería Paraíso could not be any better. Jacqueline was amazing and gave us personalized recommendations every step of the way. We were allowed to pick our room from those available, had an amazing $30 4 hour horseback ride and $30 wonderful massage. Cannot recommend this place more! You will not regret staying here!

I don't usually write reviews, but just have to for Paraiso.

I arrived late in the evening needing a room for the night before driving back to Cuenca. I was tired and a bit worn down from a quite tragic week, and needed a peaceful sanctuary for the night.

To my surprise there was a jacuzzi (2 actually) and I was able to enjoy a beautiful warm soak, and to my extra surprise and delight, a steam room. No kidding this was the best steam room I've ever experienced. The steam vent was packed full of fresh eucalyptus and the hot steam with the herbal vapours was amazing.

I ended the night with a beautiful tea on the veranda in the hammock, and was able to spend some time before bed meditating in the energetic pyramid In the middle of the property.

I woke up refreshed and enjoyed a beautiful breakfast that was included in the price of the room.

Extremely clean roooms, tidy and lush property, and an awareness of energy and consciousness. I will return to every time I visit Vilcabamba.

As we've been travelling for a couple of years (living a nomadic life) we have stayed in, quite literally, hundreds of places - and this has to be one of the most hospitable, charming, well-appointed and good value of them all.

Jacqueline, her family and staff took such amazing care of us - nothing was too much trouble for them and they always had a smile on their face and a willingness to really make guests feel welcome. The rooms are spacious, spotlessly clean, with great wifi and a tranquil, scenic setting. The local kitty and puppy were huge bonuses, as were the wonderful amenities of a cool pool, a piping hot hammam (Turkish bath), the equally intense dry sauna and a refreshing hot tub.

Breakfast was wonderful - again, the staff were so accommodating of our vegetarian and gluten-free requests, and they certainly delivered the best breakfasts we've had in South America.

Overall, a triumph! Vilcabamba has lots of options and can be hard to choose, but if it's a relaxing stay in a convenient location with great views, low noise, wonderful amenities and all the warmth of a (good!) family visit that you're looking for, then this place really cannot be beaten. Five whole-hearted stars!
