Laguna Cuicocha

at 3100 m of altitude this lagoon offers a walk with beautiful views and panoramas, technically and physically easy. the route goes up to 3450 m, and with an easy pace lasts from 4 to 4.5 hours, taking all the time necessary to immortalize the experience with photos. take water with you and use sunscreen because if it's a sunny day, the exposure is important.

A beautiful place though poorly marked. If I didn't explore, I would miss a beautiful trail around the lagoon. There are millions of places where you can put a board with a map and basic information. You will find one after you discover the trail yourself. Ecuador wake up. There are millions of tourists around the world that would love to spend billions of dollars in this beautiful country. Help them!

Easy 12km hike around the lake, very nice views

Superb crater lake with 2 islands in the middle. It can get cold, it's at 3100m. Visited in 1992

Beautiful place to visit for half a day. Hicking for all the levels. They could add more things to do.

At a sunny day its just such a beautiful scenery.
The walk around takes between 3.5 an 5 hours depending on your physical condition and is definitely worth doing it. And also the boatride is quite nice even if it's a short one.

Great place to visit. It's a hike down and unless your ready for a hard hike up you'll need a horse that costs 1 dollar and a tip will worth it

Cool half-day to full day hike, depends how early you leave. To get there take bus from otavalo to cotacachi ($0.35) from where you can take a cab for $5 to the Lake itself. On a way back the same, ypu can hail taxi ať the Lake pretty easily.
