Hostal Doña Clarita

I don't know much about the rooms, I was on my way to a different hostel where I was already staying, when one of the care takers kindly offered to give me a lift back to town. When we got there they gave me the most delicious banana bread. Just for that reason I will be coming back for more.

Amazing family run hostal, perfect for the second day of the quilatoa loop. A fraction of the price of the black sheep inn and much better value. Great food, comfortable room and free unlimited banana bread. 100% recommend staying here, best place in chuglican.

We can only agree with the other reviews. This is a beautiful family owned place with delicious food and extremely lovely and welcoming people. The room is beautiful and new with a great view. The common area is cozy and there is free coffee, tea and banana bread!

We loved our stay at this gorgeous family-owned small hostel with AMAZING food. The family is incredibly welcoming and relaxed, we felt right at home. The hostel has been renovated 6 months ago so it is extremely clean and charming. The room with a private bathroom (with a non-electric, hot shower) we got was very spacious and had an amazing view from the attic. We recommend paying Doña Clarita a visit for lunch even if you’re not staying here - even the locals said that this hostel is the best for food! Muchísimo gracias Doña Clarita & familia ☺

The family at Dona clarita welcome you with open arms and warm smiles.
The rooms are clean, cosy and chalet-like with a balcony and beautiful views of the mountains, hot showers, fresh towels, plenty of power points and extra blankets.
The price is fantastic value for the homely rooms + hearty portions of delicious food at dinner and breakfast as well as free coffee and cake.
The family are so happy and easy to get along with and have created a wonderful haven for any travellers passing by- I couldn’t recommend enough.

Good location near the spectacular Ruta de las Canyones hiking path. Rooms were clean and cozy, breakfast and dinner are included in the price and are delicious. Most of all I enjoyed spending time with the super friendly family. Absolutely excellent.

A really nice place: very friendly family, recently renovated old house with a nice & clean room and bathroom. And it was really cosy in the evening when they put on the oven for us hikers :) Good dinner (veg curry) and breakfast and yummy and inexpensive lunch package. I can really recommend!
....quiet place also (first I thought the street could be loud as it is next to it, but it wasn't! Was glad for that :)

Great hostal with a super friendly family. We arrived when it was raining so we had really wet shoes but they kindly gave us some sliders. Also, one of the best showers I had so far in South-America. The fire place and cute cat Tereza give a realy cozy vibe. I can definitely recommend this hostal!

What a nice family and a great hotel. 100% recommend. We stayed on new years and they took great care of us.

The experience was amazing! They take 15 dollars but give you every thing they can, the meals are big and tasty, the room are super good and every thing is clean! ☺

Great family run inn. I only stayed for lunch but the family was so nice. The food was excellent and the price was so reasonable. If I were in the area again I would definitely make sure stop for a visit.

Great place with friendly locals! For 15$ a night u get a good bed, good WiFi and hot shower + dinner, breakfast, takeaway meal for the following day. Much more authentic than the hostel Cloud Forest where everybody is going!!

I had a very lovely stay at Doña Clarita hostal. I didn’t make a reservation in advance and just stopped by asking if they have any free room. Since I was their first guest after their had renovated the guesthouse they upgraded me to a private room for no extra cost with a private bathroom which I thought was a very kind gesture. And the bathroom has beautiful windows made from upcycled glass bottles. The family is very friendly and attentive. Meal is also delicious. We spent some nice time talking about the trails, our culture adn they even taight me a few qichua words :). I was supposed to stay only one night but doña Clara suggested I could rest one more day and do the skywalk. Her son Lucas explained to me the way since it wasnt on the map and so I set off. Skywalk was absolutely gorgeous. I am glad I didn’t miss it. I got also other suggestions for hikes around Chugchilan but unfortunately didn’t have time to explore more of Chugchilan’s beautiful nature and decided to do it next time when I’ll come back. It was homey and truly local and authentic experience. Thank you❤

Es war so ein schöner Aufenthalt bei Doña Clarita und ihrer Familie! Alle sind unfassbar lieb und gastfreundlich. Das Essen ist extrem lecker und reichhaltig, außerdem bekommt man wunderbares, frisches Bananenbrot kostenlos genauso wie Tee, Wasser, Kaffee, Kakao. Frühstück und Abendessen sind im Preis inbegriffen. Es gibt in den sehr sauberen Zimmern viele Decken zum Einkuscheln. Wir haben alles geliebt!

Incroyable expérience ! Je recommande mille fois cette superbe adresse, une famille adorable, aux petits soins, de bons conseils et super bien placée. La chambre était superbe, eau chaude, pression et repas ultra copieux et avec de très bonnes saveurs. L’eau filtrée, le café/the et cookies/banana bread sont également à disposition et incroyable. Nous avons également pris le lunch à en porter pour la randonnée qui était incroyable ! Nous aurions aimé rester plus longtemps dans cet Hostal chaleureux et familial.!

Diese Unterkunft ist perfekt! Das Essen ist unglaublich gut. Das berühmte Bananenbrot gibt es gratis sowie Kaffee und Tee. Das familiengeführte Hostel beschert einem ein herzliches Willkommen. Alle sind super lieb. Ich kann es definitiv empfehlen. Ein guter Ausgangspunkt, um Quilatoa Loop zu machen, oder auch andere Wanderung in der Gegend.

Accueil génial chez Doña Clarita ! L'auberge est tenue par une famille qui a ouvert tout récemment. Ils sont adorables et aux petits soins avec les marcheurs.
Pour avoir été voir d'autres auberges, c'est franchement le meilleur rapport qualité/prix de la ville. Le prix inclus une chambre privée, dîner et petit déjeuner délicieux et copieux et des thés, cafés et excellents banana breads à volonté tout au long de la journée. De plus, ils proposent aussi des lunch box à prix ultra corrects, ce qui était franchement bienvenue pour ce dernier jour d'ascension jusqu'à la lagune !

La nourriture était excellente (et en grande quantité), la chambre spacieuse et l'eau chaude !

Le meilleur hostel que j’ai eu jusqu’à présent en Équateur!
Les hôtes sont extrêmement chaleureux et bienveillants. Nous avons obtenu une magnifique chambre sur deux étages avec salle de bain privée. La nourriture, comprise dans le prix, était excellente et très variée. Thé et café étaient disponibles à volonté. L’hostel se situe au milieu de montagnes, dans un cadre idyllique et parfait pour les randonnées.
Tout ça pour un prix plus que correct!
