Rio Quijos Eco Lodge

We stayed at the lodge as part of a week of paddling with Endless River Adventures... and had a blast. It was so fascinating to see the country with their decades of experience operating there. The entire team--from the driver to the chefs to the guides--were professional and friendly. The lodge is charming and the rooms are comfortable. It's right on the river, at the take-out for one section and put-in for another. I would love to go back with ERA!

Lovely place to stay. Hummingbirds, motmots and other birds visit the porch - effortless to see them.
Gonzalo has excellent bird knowledge, super friendly.
Local food was really fantastic.
Nice walk to nearby waterfall (cascada estancia).
Stopped off between Cuyabeno and Quito. We asked the bus to stop in Baeza and Hotel arranged short taxi for us from there.

A very nice place. You can observe a variety of birds easily from the terrace. The colibris come as close as 1 m. The rooms are spacious and clean, the personnel is super friendly.

Such a beautiful place to stay so close to the river. The bird life is amazing and the food was delicious. Their resident dog Kimchi was so cute and friendly. The staff was friendly and knowledgable about the area. Going rafting and then taking out right there at the lodge was pretty awesome. We loved it there!

A hidden gem. Great birds, orchids and comfortable rooms. The hummer feeders are loaded with good species.The staff is very helpful and the food is good. They have their own trail system. Kimchee, the lodge dog, is a wonder. She's the cutest little thing in the world. This place is definitely worth a visit.

This is a great location for birdwatching. Accommodations are beautiful, clean and the staff is super-friendly and knowledgable. The Ecuadorian food is an authentic treat and is prepared fresh daily. I highly recommend a stay here for adventurers of all types or to just get away and relax. Just the right distance from Quito! Cant wait to get back.

Fantastic place. Excellent rooms in a beautiful environment. The quality is all first world. Located on the banks of the Quijos river. Looking up from breakfast I just saw a humming bird trying to come in the window. Butterflies, birds, hiking trails, sauna.

What a gorgeous lodge! As a tour leader I have stayed in many lodges and I would say that this is one of the best, taking into account that it is relatively inexpensive and makes no pretensions about its status. The rooms are beautifully presented, very comfortable, very clean, and there's plenty of hot water. The food is very tasty and helpings are generous, and the staff is very kind and helpful. Angel the manager is fantastic, and a credit to the lodge. A huge attraction to this lodge are the gardens, full of attractive flowers, several hummingbirds on the feeders, and the extensive trails through the 29+ hectares (90+ acres) of forest on the estate - my tours concentrate on butterfly photography, and there are plenty of rarer species which we found on these trails. Note that there is a huge forested ridge the other side of the river which belongs to the lodge, which has a trail through it - ideal for bird watching or nature watching. There are no other decent lodges anywhere near here in the general Baeza area, so this lodge is ideally suited as a first stop either on the way into the "Oriente" (Amazon) from the airport, or as a final stop the night before your flight home: in 2 hours you can easily reach the airport. Many thanks to Angel and his staff for their hospitality, and I'm very much looking forward to my next stay.

The Ecolodge is a perfect vacation spot. It has a private beach, hiking trails, yoga platform, bird watching, rafting, and other activities. The rooms are decorated nicely and very comfortable with scenic views. You fall asleep listening to the Rio Quijos. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable. The chef serves up amazing meals. Can’t say enough good things about this Ecolodge.

Excellent place. Lots of beautiful birds including parrots, great little beach on the river. Friendly staff and atmosphere.

One of the best places I have ever stayed! The location is remote and all nature... beautiful birds, flowers and a private beach!

En el predio del lodge hay diversos senderos que te conducen por la selva o bordean el río. Elegis tu propia aventura! Son de dificultad baja, aptos para toda la familia.
La atención de todo el personal fue excelente y la alimentación, riquísima: destaco el servicio de desayuno, además de rico, muy abundante.

Un lugar fantástico entorno a la naturaleza, oferta alojamiento y actividades de rafting, kayak, gastronomía, caminatas por senderos entre el bosque y observación de aves.
