Hotel - Casa del Montañero - Bed & Breakfast - Hostel - Machachi / Cotopaxi

Very good hosts, clean and comfy, thanks to Diego - who is very passionate about mountains and can organise you climb on any mountain!!! I can't wait to visit this place again.

Very cosy place, hidden wonderful secret starting point for a nice hiking adventure to Cotopaxi. Owner Diego was so kind, gave us advice on trips / city spots / travelling. Room was clean, tea / water for free, good WiFi.

Very friendly and helpful owner and the rooms are quite good for the offered price! I can definitely recommend staying here in Machachi.

This place is special! There’s a sweet patch of grass to sit and read and beautiful view of the mountains from the upstairs rooms. Diego y Janeth are super warm and welcoming. Janeth made a fire for us in the lodge and made us a delicious breakfast every morning with a warm drink, juice, eggs how you like em, fruit + granola + condensed milk + croissant all for $5. She helped us navigate the bus stop and then Diego drove us there and helped get us onto the right bus when the driver said it was full. They have some beautiful items for sale as well, and the money goes to their son. They also gave us restaurant recommendations and gave us a private bathroom and room with a view for no extra cost. They even came in and tidied our room and gave us new towels while we were out. Would absolutely go back! Janeth and Diego are extremely thoughtful and generous hosts and there is a magical energy about the place. Also it’s near the edge of town, close to restaurantes but very quiet.

I spent three nights in the Casa del Montañero.
The hotel is really very nice, cosy and familiar ! My room was really okay for the price, and the breakfast (included) was also very good.

If you want to do some excursions in the region, Andes Climbing can also provide you the material and the guide, and is based in the Casa del Montañero. I made the Cotopaxi full ascension with Marco, and this was an amazing moment !

We had a great time in the hostel. The rooms are nice and have a functioning heating. The hostel offers tours to the Cotopaxi National Park and lends equipment. It is possible to hike alone or with a guide. Everything to fair prices.
The family which owns the hostal is incredibly nice. They made a fire for us to dry our clothes after we got totaly wet in the national park. They also opened a kitchen for us after they saw us cooking on our camping cooker and repaired my hiking stick. I can totally recommend to stay in this hostel.

Las habitaciones estuvieron limpio, bonito y caliente en la noche. La familia es muy amable. Es posible para reservar viajes en el parque nacional Cotopaxi para precios económicos. Totalmente recomiendo quedarse en este hostal.

Great place to stay for adventures in Ecuador. Diego's wife and mother-in-law made us feel at home. Clean and comfortable. Ideal location to explore Machachi on foot between hikes.

We were originally going to stay at Casa del Montañero. Sadly, we had to change our plans. Regardless of this decision, I wanted to state that all our questions were answered with thanks to Diego. They were attentive and swift to make sure we were all set for our stay. If I return to Machachi, I will undoubtedly stay at Casa del Montañero.

Almost perfect! It is clean, warm, and in the center of the valley of volcanos. At the end of a long hick day, one can enjoy the fireplace while drinking some tea, or use the wifi for some Netflix break. By far the best you will get for such a low price.

"La Casa del Montañero" Hostel offers a delicious meals and a good breakfast it is close to the center of Machachi town.
Their team is very friendly and the facilities are very modern and very clean is very nice being there feels like home

Se volete fare alta montagna affidatevi a professionisti come loro. I programmi di acclimatamento e la loro strutturazione sono eccezionali. Guide spettacolari e professionali. Il costo è più che meritato, soprattutto per tutta la gestione della logistica e dell'attrezzatura di alta montagna.
L'ostello è bellissimo e gestito a livello familiare. Molto pulito e le stanze sono spaziose con letti comodi.
