This shop is Duty free but most boats will confiscate all liquid purchased until your last day so don't buy and think you can drink on the boat! They have some wonderful souvenirs and usually offer specials on magnets and shot glasses. Great business model; making you walk thru the shop to enter the island and to exit to the ship.

A huge variety of duty free items. Great prices on liquor and cigarettes. Some local food and souvenir items for sale. The Dominican coffee is great! Head on in!!!

Who doesn't like a duty free shop while traveling? The hubs decided to make a quick stop to find a gift. We opted to go with liquor since it was a souvenir for an adult.

The staff in the store was helpful in helping him select a local rum to purchase. The price was fair, so no concerns there. This store does offer other items such as chocolates, fragrance, and jewelry.

Nothing really overwhelming here. Just a typical Duty Free store- which Carnival uses to bottle neck all of their cruisers through when entering and exiting the port.

The store is fine with a great selection of goods. However, do not buy the cheap local rum in the dark brown bottle with the red wax sealed top - it is awful and tastes like it is made with xylene.

If I owned this place I think I’d fire about half the staff. Especially the women that were sampling the rums, well that is if you could get there attention from there in depth conversation with the male staff members. They were more interested in socializing and completely ignoring customers. As for the rest I didn’t see much “how can I help you”, going on. They’d just kind of look at you and sit in there spots.

This place is a complete rip off. Prices here are higher than retail in downtown a Puerto Plata. For example, I bought a Romeo & Juliet corona from Jumbo @US$10 each, at Dufry the same cigar is being sold for US$13. And it is the same price if you buy one cigar or a box of 25.
Vanilla essence was $14, whilst we picked a similar pack size in the hotel for $5.
What is cheap here is the Brugal rum!
