Cayo Arena

Absolutely gorgeous unspoiled beauty! There's nothing on this island except a few huts housing drink/fruit vendors. There's an amazing reef for snorkeling not far off the shore. We saw plenty of jellyfish, sea urchins, fish, coral, and vegetation. Be sure to arrive early to avoid an influx of large tour boats coming in later in the afternoon.

I recently had the pleasure of visiting Punta Rucia in the Dominican Republic, and I wanted to share my experience with you. One of the highlights of my trip was visiting this amazing place in the middle of the ocean (Cayó Arena). It was truly a must-see for anyone visiting the area.

Beautiful and very small little island on top of a corral reef. Go snorkling in the crystal clear water and you'll see myrads of different fish. Takes about 25 minutes to get there by boat from Punta Rucia.

It is an excellent place to take your family for a relaxing boat ride. Once you arrive at the island, you can enjoy the stunning underwater view of colorful fish and serene white sand. It's truly a paradise!

Loved that place even tho the pub was closed which was a bit unfortunate. Props to the creator to put that many fish there.

Great experience to visit Paradise Island. If possible, you should go with a private guide early in the morning, then you have a great chance to be completely alone on the island. 25-30 meters in the water are incredibly beautiful fish species that you can easily observe while snorkeling. Also for children a special experience.

We visited during a shore excursion purchased through Carnival Cruises. Very beautiful area for snorkeling, and while it was very crowded we were still able to enjoy the water and see the beautiful reef and tropical fish. Some of the most crystal clear water you could imagine. Shoes and towels are not allowed on the beach as it is protected, just so you are aware ahead of time.

Definitely the best snorkeling we have found, but you need to swim away from the island to where the drop off is from the reef to the ocean. We wish someone had told us because we wasted a lot of our time just poking around close to the island sandbar. The drop off was spectacular. Also go early like 8:30 or 9:00 in the morning. You will have it to yourself!

The last place on my list in Dominican Republic! I made it, and guest what? It was better than I expected, more beautiful, more impacting and more exciting than expected! I think we were a little over charged $5,500 pesos for the boat right, but it was private, we were only 3 people and the boat was ours, we departed when we wanted. The scenic views are out of this world.

My wife and I did this Shore Excurion off the Carnival Horizon Cruise Boat. It was amazing. Some really great snorkeling. Just wish we could have stayed longer. A definite must do if you get the opportunity.

Absolutely incredible!! This sandbar in the Atlantic Ocean was the most beautiful place that I've ever set foot on!! Our guides on the catamaran were amazing, the snorkeling was absolutely incredible, and the atmosphere was fantastic!! I highly recommend this tour!!!!!

Cayo Arena is a gem and is always a great time. Bring snorkeling gear and maybe some food for the fish.

Beautiful experience, it was 100usd for five of us on a speed boat by a local guide who also took us through the mangroves. Clear water, beautiful fishes. It was pretty windy, and since we went there around 1pm(after the catamarans come back) there wasn’t that many people there. Worth the trip and experience.

Cayo Arena is Beautiful! Short boat ride from Ensenada Beach which on its own is beautiful also! Puerto Plata, Dominican Republic has it all! 🥰

This place is an absolute must visit in Dominican Republic. It’s a beautiful small island with crystal clear water. 😍

Make sure to make reservation prior to your visit. There are few tours during the day and they run out of tickets quickly.

A natural beauty. Wonderful experience. It's fun to ride in the speed boats and the amount of fish we saw was just impressive.

This is a MUST while visiting the Dominican Republic. Took a speed boat over. 15 mins from shore. Take your own snorkeling gear and a go pro. Thank me later.

Beautiful sandbar where you can snorkel, feed fish, and (if you don't mind lying on the sand) sunbathe. Be careful of the current and rocks. The former can be a bit rough and the latter can be sharp. Bring sunscreen and snacks. Arrive at 8am to avoid crowds of tourists.

This place is AMAZING! I was lucky enough to go here early in the morning, earlier you go the better since in the afternoon the land is not that expose as it’s in the morning , this place is a dream. I been in many beautiful places in the Dominican Republic but I will say this is one of my favorites. I guess I was lucky but it was only me and my friend on the cayo some people do not have the same luck but this is a must visit place.
