The Hermitage Hunting Lodge

A beautiful little hunting lodge/tiny royal castle. It’s rarely open for the public, but it’s located atop a hill with a stunning view overlooking the fields of Dyrehaven and the waters of Øresund.

I really, really loved this deer park in Lyngby. It's not easy to access, the paths are hilly and difficult to cycle in, and yet it remains one of the most chill places I visited in Denmark. The deer are cute and not aggressive. The paths are quiet and comfortable to walk on. I even went back a second time the day before my flight back to Singapore.

If you're in the area, do not miss this.

It is a very beautiful hunting house, which is not just a museum, but a place where the Queen and her family stay during the hunt several times a year. It is possible to see the Palace after the booking in advance. We were there with my colleagues and the tour was splendid. There are things to enjoy both for the locals and tourists. You never get enough of Danish history.

Magical place. One of the seven of World Heritage place in Denmark. This serene wild forest used to be Royal hunting area. It is said, about 2000+ deer herds roam here in this open national park, and there’s other animals too. Entry to the forest is free of cost although the mansion is open to visitors only in summer. Perfect for long walks / bike rides. Enjoyed our time here very much:)

Incredible place and highly recommended!
There will be a lot of walking involved so wear something comfortable and warm (specially in the evenings).
A great way to be close to nature and animals. Lots and lots of deers roaming around and it’s great to see them not fenced off.
It’s around 1.5km walk from the car park to the lodge/castle/building. Beautiful views all around including large fields, a golf course and a forest with thick trees.
I visited around sunset and discovered some incredible views but also realised that it’s ideal to go early in the day as you will need a good few hours to thoroughly enjoy this great place.

Wild forest for just 30 minutes ride from the city center. Best place to escape from your busy day.

A beautiful and gorgeous wild park which used to be a king's hunting forest area. Incredible deer herds roam freely and other animals. Nature here is so soothing! Perfect for walks / bike rides. Enjoyed our time here very much:)

This place took my breath away. I have never seen so many deers at the same place, the hunting lodge is absolutely amazing. 100% worth to come during the sunset hour from the "seaside" to have the the magic views I've witnessed. This is HEAVEN!

The place is magnificent. If you love animals you will love it. There are so many deers 🦌. You can see them closely.

Beautiful animal gardens. Tons of walking areas and you are able to see so many deer, reindeer and other animals. Also a really neat hunting castle.

Beautiful grounds especially when the deers are close by. Great walk in the forest. You can easily walk for many km while you are here. Bakken is close by so you can stop off for drinks and some liveliness

Very peaceful and lovely cycling route where you can spot deers along the way. Totally worthwhile day trip to get away from citylife

A deer park with ample surroundings for walking, jogging, biking, and also sight seeing for over 700 deers which live near the small hunting lodge. They are friendly but still wild animals, and you will be able to see many of them around the different areas surrounding the lodge.

A beautiful castle in the middle of a impressive natural park. We couldn't visit the castle but it's a wonderfull place for a day of just walking and enjoying the nature. OH! Lets not forget about the precious deers that you see here. There are about 400 deers and you can see them all over the place. Enjoy the nature!

The hunting Lodge is situation in an open park full of deers that can be seen during the summers. The park offers a great place to have picnics and socialize with friends.

Cycled out to the Hermitage Hunting Lodge from Copenhage city centre. I think at a casual cycle speed it took about 40 minutes to get there - going passed Kastellet, up Kalkbrænderihavnsgade, Strandvejen and Kystevjen. I'd read reviews that the surrounding park was great to cycle around and they weren't wrong! There are proper cycle paths and off-road paths, both of which you can walk as well if you're not a keen cyclist, but the area is so big it would take much longer to get around. Highly recommend allocating a few hours to make the trip to visit this park.

The place is very much enjoyable with fresh air, serene and green environment, beautiful trees, lovely deers and the magnificent old castle.
