Grundtvig’s Church

Beautiful church! Just stunning inside and out. The architecture is unreal. The tall ceiling, the beautiful minimalist moulding. Very scandic. When I was there I was lucky enough that the organ was being played.

Impressive architecture highlighting simplicity. We were lucky to came just before the sermon, and enjoyed the organ acoustic. It’s definitely worth the visit, and the park nearby is great place to take a walk and enjoy some nature.

This is a very holy church, some distance from Copenhagen. When I saw this building, I couldn't help but marvel at the fact that in such a cold place, however, the Danish architectural design gave me a touch of warmth, even in the middle of winter. It was as if I was in heaven, so holy that I felt the gods were near. I would love to have a wedding here.

Grundtvig's Church in Copenhagen, designed by Peder Vilhelm Jensen-Klint, is a large Lutheran church built from 1921 to 1940 as a memorial to the Danish pastor N.F.S. Grundtvig. Renowned for its National Romantic style and expressionist architecture,

I honestly don’t know if I ever saw something as beautiful and breathtaking as this church.
The architecture is magnificent. Inside its amazing too.
Quite far from the city center which makes it even better because it’s not full of random tourist. People only go there if they are really interested by the architecture/story of the place.

Amazing Church In Copenhagen. A 20 minute train ride from city centre. It has a different style and vibe compared to Copenhagen Cathedral but overall a pleasant one. The design is breathtaking and grand but at the front near the altar there is a sense of peace and intimacy with religion, away from the distractions that surrounds you.

Even someone agnostic like me has to admit that this church has a character that invites you to be in peace with yourself when you enter through the wooden doors. We travelled here by bus from our hotel and walked the last kilometer to arrive behind the massive building. It was temporarily closed for a wedding so we had the time to have lunch in a nearby restaurant after which we were allowed in. The light streaming in through the high windows gives a very particular character to the architecture and you can spend hours admiring the ever changing light patterns on the sand coloured brick. The buildings surrounding the Church have a very interesting architectural history. We strongly recommend you pay a visit to this place.

Incredible place a bit off the typical tourist route but well worth the detour to get to. The outer facade was under renovations when we visited in early June, but the inside holds tremendous beauty. Go early in the morning to avoid crowds and soak in the peace and beautiful organ music.

The most beautiful church i have ever seen. This church is designed with modern geometric forms of bricks with classical Gothic Style. Impressive exterior and Interior will bound to steal your heart for sure.

A perfect spot for some solitude

It's off-the-beaten-path and a trek to get there being so north from central city, but it's worth the investment. Grundtvigs Kirke is one of the only examples of expressionist architecture in churches around the world. From the moment you turn the corner to see the church, it's stunning. It seems other worldly.

It's open throughout the year for visitors. When my friend and I went in at 3 p.m. on a Thursday in October 2021, the doors were open and an organist was playing. A few tourists filled the seats snapping photos of the unique design.

If you love design and architecture, definitely go here. Admission is free and they sell a few items inside to help fund the church's Christmas charity work.

This church is really special.
The architecture is very unique, I was overwhelmed by its majesty yet simplicity.
And it is not crowded at all.
