International School of Hellerup

This August we sent our son to ISH school for one-week of summer camp, it was the best summer camp experience that we ever had. All the staff is super kind, always available, full of attention to all kids. all activities are well structured, full of fun, our son was in love with this school :) After we were back to Italy, he often talks about good memories that he had at ISH, thanks a lot to this fantastic school!

I love it at Ish. I find it fascinating that people from India and Greece and much more, they all go to the same school. And all the teachers are amazingly nice.

ISH is a very human driven and proffesionally leaded IB (international Bacaloreaut School). I love all the personel, the pedagological view, permanent activities and extracurriculars. English level, for those who has not one, is really great and reinforced with extra classes of needed. The communication with teachers and authorities is permanent. If your kid needs extra help in speach or motor skills the school is there to offer you excelent proffesionals.
I Like that it has not a very high competitive ambiance so each kid can develope at his pace. All nationalities are welcome at ISH and parents make a very nice community. I recommend this school of you would not live in Denmark for ever and of you want to be part of an international education system!

Apart from a few hiccups and bumps along the way this school is filled with some of the hardest working and brightest educators i’ve ever met, especially in my recent years. I have yet to meet people as dedicated to their work especially with children as young as I was. In addition during my time at the school it was small and still growing and nevertheless it provided an experience up to par or even superseding other schools despite its chronically limited finance (at the time). Funnily enough as a kid here I always thought bullying wasn’t real as nobody I knew or myself actually experienced it in a significant manner and I imagine some part of that belief was due to this environment that was fostered. This school not only creates inquirers out of every student who decides to join this big family but instills so much respect and understanding for the fellow classmates, teachers, guests, and most importantly, people. The things I’ve learned here have been invaluable to my personal growth, global perspectives, and of course, my education. Lastly when it comes to the so called “meat and potatoes” of the school, its education. This curriculum puts most national curriculums to shame and puts every child a step ahead of the rest when pursuing it, not only through it’s top class education but through something much more important it’s awe-inspiring, eye-opening perspectives that unlock the potential in every child making it much more than just a school.

We've been very happy at this school! We switched our 3 kids from another (much more expensive) international school in the area and were happy to discover that we preferred this school even though the price is so much less! The teachers have been great and the administration is very responsive to any issue that arises. ISH has a new Learning Support department that has been super helpful with my son who has dyslexia also.

This is our second year at ISH and we have been really happy with the school. Our boys love going to school every day and so far we have been lucky to have really wonderful teachers (Kindergarden and 1st grade). Although the school is more affordable than other international schools, it offers high level of teaching, great services like Learning Support, after school care and an electives program. It's a great international community of students, parents and teachers, would highly recommend to any new family!

I am from Ukraine, I am with my daughter was running from Russian agression to Denmark. I Ve got information about International school of Hellerup from the Red Cross. They invited ukrainian children for social activity.
We came there, and we were welcomed as much as it can be imagine! We both fell in love with this magic place and wonderful, careful people, who work there! Since my daughter speaks English fluently, she felt really comfortable among children. They also were very welcome to her. And we have seen pictures and handmade things on Ukrainian style, it was so sensitive!

Very important for us, leaving our houses. I am so thankful for the administration, teachers, volunteers for all help and giving us the chance to see what a study should be!

Our family have been enrolled at ISH for 5 years. It is a true international school, and as such our kids are part of many other nationalities and cultures. I receive learning support for both my children, and this has been immeasurable... I am so happy to see how far they have come, and overcoming their obstacles, with the fantastic support they receive. The staff and administration are welcoming and supportive, and quick to resolve any issues. Communication is great and there is a warm and welcoming parents network. During the Covid lockdown, I was extremely impressed with how my son (grade 7, MYP2) transitioned seamlessly to remote learning, without much disruption to lessons and curriculum. I highly recommend ISH to any new family moving to Copenhagen.

I have 2 boys at ISH at PYP level for the past 5 years. We all are very happy with the IB programme, school, and most importantly with professional staff who takes care of our kids. The school is very reachable/responsive to parental concerns, suggestions and proposals. This is not only our subjective observation but also observation of our friends who have their kids in the same school. ISH has very individual approach in their communications and handling of issues concerning the students. We are happy and at the same time honored to be part of ISH larger family, where we are ensured that our kids are in capable hands.

We love the ISH and their IB system and think that the teachers at the ISH are really giving their best to help the students getting critical and creative thinkers that gonna change the world.

* the curriculum is very appealing (our daughter was always excited what all is gonna come the next school year!)
* there are no classes skipped because of e.g. sick teachers
* the teachers are good accessible as well via email
* most work is done on the laptop, students learn to work with technology
* the MYP lounge is comfortable

* the online lessons during covid felt very long for the students and the complete school day should have been much shorter (8:30 am to 3:30 pm is way too long)
* the higher MYPs were not allowed to go on the playground because of the PYPs
* in PE (sports) more practical than theoretical work would be nice

Great medium sized private school with a truly international studentship. Teachers are mostly experienced and coverage of subjects is very good. Hours are 8:30am till 3:30pm plus ex-curricular studies/activities till 5:00pm

Engaged and dedicated teachers and well operated IB school. Vegetarian option for school lunch below standard.

The school demands high academic commitment from its students at MYP level. Lots of projects, homeworks, lab reports and so on. I highly recommend the school to the parents who are looking for a rigorous and challenging teaching environment for their kids.
At PYP level, the focus is on discovering the world and to get familiar with the methods to understand it. They make frequent visits to museums, universities and science fairs. It is mostly a fun experience. At PYP4 and PYP5 they also focus on the maths ...
