Ratskeller Passau

Very nice Atmosphere inside and outside on the Rathausplatz, especially in warm sunny weather! The service was quick and friendly and showed patience when we couldn’t decide for a while. We were easily able to exchange the dumplings for fries. The menu is both in english and german in a very good and understandable translation so also tourists can easily find something they like. The menu has a wide variety of local / traditional food. The meals were good, just the potato dumplings we ordered were most likely bread dumplings (?) - but the turkey breast was juicy, the pork roast had a nice crackling, and the portion sizes were big and filling. The alcohol free version tastes not quite as good as the flavour of the „real“ beer.

One of the best meals of our trip! Service was great and we felt very welcome despite not knowing any German. The schnitzel stuffed with cream cheese and bacon was out of this world good! And we really enjoyed the apple strudel which was presented so prettily. Oh, and the beer was good, too, not to mention the gorgeous interior. Highly recommend!

If you want to feel real bavarian athmosphere, this place is definately THE PLACE. Located in one of the most beautiful building in Passau, right in the a charming plaza in the front of a beautiful bridge over the Danube river, this restaurant is a must for tourists and locals as well. Great food and beer together with nice services. Do not miss the apfelstrudel, is absolutely amazing.

Delicious! We weren't sure what we wanted to eat, waiter recommended sausages with curry and white with cabbage. Both were delicious! Fast and kind service

I got a very delicious Lillet, the view to the castle while we drank and had dinner.
My hubby’s food selection was ok “ratsherrnplatte” but the Kassler was little too salty nevertheless mine was spectacular “Schweinsbratten” pork meat was sooo soft, juicy and delicious and the skin “chicharrones” the most amazing and crispy I have ever had!!

This was a busy place the evening we stopped by without reservations on our only evening in Passau. We got the last table outside and after getting the biers the rain started. Luckily they helped us squeeze the table under the big umbrellas and we were able to enjoy our cozy meal watching the rain. The menu has many German favorites and everything tasted great. Service was busy but timely and efficient. Having just gotten off a cruise ship my appetite was for sausage and it was satisfied!

It is a good place to have a break and enjoy a good drink and snack or even a big meal. The restaurant is located in an old town area. There are interesting places nearby.

Friendly staff and yummy food with good price.

Nice place. Big portions. Waitress tried to give us good advice about portion size and was right. It was pleasant that she thought about our experience and not about how much money we gonna spend.

Nothing not to like here guys. Great area, great views and friendly enough staff. The Glass Museum, Art Alley, City Hall and other attractions close by. Highly recommend.

September 2023 we were on a Viking cruise. We popped in for a drink after our walking city tour. Cold beer and aperoll spritz!

Pleasant outdoor seating. Quick, smiling service. Nice selection of beers. Limited menu in mid afternoon, but the sausage salad (sausage slices with onion and pickles) with a pretzel was delicious.

Staff was very friendly and food was very good for a good price! I can just recomend:)

Very nice place. Pork knuckle is amazing, also chickensalad is really good. Price vs quality is 10/10! Unfortunately it was rainy, with good weather they have an amazing terrace.

Authentic German Gasthaus with river views. Great German food at reasonable prices. Fantastic local beer. The Maibock is delicious. We had two evening meals and one lunch here. Friendly waitress speaks some English if your German is lacking.

Enjoyed a couple beers here while waiting for our bus to take us to our Viking cruise boat.
