About 45 minutes away from Erlangen by car, or 30 minutes from Forchheim, this beautiful ruin finds itself ontop of the hills in the Fränkische Schweiz. The view is stunning all year long, and the hike up there is quite an easy one.

Very good place to spend time with family. Easy hike to the castle. You can see beautiful views from there. Bring your food and water with you and you can easily spend several hours in nature.

Cool little ruin with an amazing view! You can easily walk there from the nearby village Streitberg or wander about on the forest trails deeper into the woods.

Stunning view from up here especially during autumn. Definitely worth a visit. The hike up is relatively easy and enjoy the autumn colors.

Beautiful views if you reach the top of the tower. The castle is also quite impressive and larger than it would first seem.
The walk to Neideck through the fields and woods is lovely as well.

Very nice castle ruins. Lots of signs and explanations (in German, of course). Worth the hike.

Beautiful Castle ruins along a very nice hiking trail! Access is free and there are modern day stairs built inside of the tower to allow you to climb to the top; offering you amazing 360 degree views of Muggendorf and the surrounding landscape.

I also recommend reading about the history of the Castle and you will quickly understand why the placement was so important!

Awesome place. Trek into the forest is really nice and it is a dense forest.
At the top of castle the view is nice. Properly covered with rails for child safety

Great place for one day excursion! Awesome bicycle road from Ebermannstadt which is 5 kms away from here. The hike up to the castle is very easy and can be done even by kids.
