Café Hauptwache

As a schnitzel lover I knew I had to go eat schnitzel on my day in Frankfurt! Didn’t have a lot of time to spare to pick a restaurant but I walked past this one and it looked so cute. Outside of the building is especially nice, inside decor could maybe get upgraded a bit. Frankfurt steak with the green sauce is a recommender for anyone that loves schnitzel. Service was quick but friendly which was nice as I was in a hurry.

Ah Cafe Hauptwache. We saw it during the day and it looked beautiful. So we stopped in later and had dinner there.

I had the meatballs and my wife and the frankfurter sauce original.

The sauce on my meatballs was awesome. My wife loved the potato salad. (I don’t eat potato salad so I didn’t try it). We had the green sauce as well.

I really enjoyed my meatballs. I say plates from other tables and they looked good as well.

Service was nice and friendly. Big bathrooms downstairs, that was nice.

Cafe Hauptwache is a nice place to chill and enjoy yourself.

Great spot for a quick meal with some German cuisine. I stopped here for a relaxing lunch in Frankfurt during my visit. They had plenty of outdoor seating available in the main square. I ordered a glass of Apfelwein to start, followed by some Frankfurter sausages, potato salad and sauerkraut. Great spot to meet up with friends or enjoy a nice lunch in the city. If I could come back, I would try the schnitzel or the green sauce with eggs.

I haven't eaten here but it is a great spot to sit on a sunny day and people watch. The outdoor seating area is quite large and the service relatively prompt. Although it is also adjacent a church and when the bells ring it is really hard to hear anything

I love this place. Friendly people, delicious meals, nice place for a break. Great outside in summer time, warm and cozy inside in the winter... Great to be here again!

Really nice large patio, good for people watching. Menus in German and English. Decent prices for drinks. The goulash soup is very good there, the pizza was a miss for us. Service is friendly. The building also has an interesting history you can read about.

Unfortunately, I didn't have time to try the food here but was able to enjoy a Pils on their spacious patio. Server was friendly, though a bit spread out as the 2nd beer took a little while to get to me. All-in-all, a very nice cozy place to hangout and enjoy the surrounding architecture Frankfurt offers.

Friendly, helpful staff, good food, reasonable prices in a casual restaurant serving German food. The staff all spoke English and were happy to offer suggestions for what to order and how best to enjoy the food. We went with our children, ages 7, 10 and 11 and saw other families as well as other adult groups.

Best Pork Schnitzel we had in Frankfurt! Large portion and substituted mashed potatoes instead of fries for no extra charge. Good service. Great central location and outdoor patio was wonderful when the sun was shinning.

Very lively place located right at the central location of Hauptwache. It’s really very big and can accommodate a lot of people. I thoroughly enjoyed their ambiance and service.

Very cool place to grab a bite to eat! The schnitzel was fantastic, as were the fries we got. The beer selection was a good variety of German beers, so if you want to escape the crowds of the shopping district for some German cuisine, I’d recommend this place. Service was also wonderful - wait staff was attentive and friendly.

Visited here during the holidays and ate their amazing chicken schnitzel!!!! The apple strudel is a MUST.....especially when paired with their cider. Excellent service matched the exceptional food 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻

We arrived mid afternoon on a rainy Saturday in Frankfurt. One of the only countries currently in the UK list to visit. In need of a break, here we are! After a quick hotel check in, we headed here for their Schnitzal! Our waiter, Klodjan was fabulous. Great food, great atmosphere!

Amazing location! Pork knuckle is the best. Falls off the bone. Very delicious! Very friendly staff! Overall a very good experience!

A historical former police station. Good atmosphere. In the square. Good food, worth price. Waitresses are friendly.

Great beer, great schnitzel, great place. Well worth the visit and location is easy to get to.

Delicious breakfast. Had eggs Benedict with ham and green sauce and the other with brats and tomato hollandaise.

Views are nice. Friendly staff. Wifi here with password. Bathrooms are clean.

Centrally located coming up from the train. Outside of the building is historic from 1904. Good food, nice staff.

Soups was nice but l would recommend hauptwache soup.(white one)also waffle bread looks good and big
