Excellent industrial history museum focusing on German inland shipping. Free public parking for just 2 hours, which is short to really go through all exhibitions at ease. Texts in German, with in many cases an English summary.

Amazing museum. Helpful staff. Various types of model ships, ship equipments. Very detailed ship models could be seen. And to have an idea about transport history on Rhine River is easy in this museum. Tickets for an adult and one child was €6. There is a museum shop as well.

What a gem of a museum! The museum was really interesting with much to learn of the history of shipping in Germany and how it evolved over time. The building has an interesting history itself and the layout of was done expertly. There is information in both English and German. The museum contains old photos, documents as well as replicas and real historical pieces of ships. It also shows the more modern ships and how they operate and also allocates a section to the people in the shipping industry. There are also games for kids.
We spent about two hours there. The entrance fee was really low. Most of the areas is wheelchair accessible. Can definitely recommend!

An old public bath house transformed into a museum about Rhine shipping in particular.

Also owns a collection of museum ships, which are based both at the museum itself and at the Henrichenburg boat lift.
