I enjoy walking up to Wachtenburg. It is a fairly easy hike up the hill (maybe 20-30 minutes). Good food, friendly service, and a spectacular view of the German Wine Road. I love just sitting up on the terrace taking in the sunshine with family and friends.

The sunset view was amazing. Take a break, walk through wine garden sit down with your favourite drink and enjoy the view.

Easy access to the castle ruin. There are plenty of places to stop and rest during your climb. A nice pub at the top to have snacks and quench your thirst. Once you have made it there, the views are worth it!

Going there with the family every time we're in the area. Unfortunately the tower's closed due to the pandemic. Doesn't matter much though. Lovingly maintained by a club of volunteers, it's become a popular meeting place for the locals. Nice local food and drink - wine - are on offer as well as a great view over the Rhine valley.

Really great traditional local food went here with friends who are from the area. Prices are unbelievable for amount of food you get breathtaking views.

Was really nice parked down in the village and walked up to the castle €9.50 average meal for location is a steal.

Breathtaking views from the top of the castle. There's also a bar inside the premises where from you can enjoy the view while sipping from your glass of wine!

Great castle to visit. Easy to get to with plenty of parking. Free entry to the castle. Food services available to enjoy while taking in the spectacular view of the Phalz.

There were not a lot of vegetarian options on the menu, that aside the castle is a perfect place to enjoy the awesome landscape and have a refreshing wine

It’s a beautiful place where you can see landscape of Freinsheim, Bad Dürkheim, Wachenheim, Mannheim and more from above. They also have very nice restaurant in the castle with traditional German food.
