Kochelsee

Beautiful lake in the south of Bavaria...just an hour drive from Munich! Clear waters...view of the mountains...and great hiking trails! One of the popular areas for a medium-hard hike with gorgeous views of the lake. Top place!

Small lake next to Walchensee. Not so far away from Kochel train station. It’s beautiful and so calm. We went here on the sunset so not very crowded and amazing.
Really recommend to visit in Bavaria!

An amazing scenic lake just an hour drive from
Munich. This lake is also quite accessible if you are coming by train. Nestled in between snow capped mountains with the calm clear waters this lake is definitely a trip highly worth it. The drive road is equally beautiful. If you are coming by car, you have multiple parking options but I highly recommend the area near the Franz Marc museum. It’s just amazing. Here the parking charges are 3 euros for 3 hours. Multiple short hikes are possible from here.

Beautiful place, nicely, tidy, clean. You can go with a dog or a bicycle. There are not many hospitality units, but the beauty of the place is plenty.

In the summer perfect spot for bathing, after we did some hiking around. The water is high quality and has a wonderful color. Quiet place and not crowded.

Outstanding natural beauty and very scenic (about one hour drive from Munich). Glacial Kochel Lake of Bavaria is set in mountains & wetlands. Water is beautifully clear and the place is unspoilt, real mother nature. Lots of hiking trails and you can swim too. Franz Marc Museum is less than a mile away and be sure to visit the other nearby Lake, Lake Walchensee, (about 6 miles away). Breath taking and the fresh air and mountains make for some really good O2, so pause, take deep breaths, relax the mind and learn to swim.

Wonderful lake and surrounding area. Nice selection of short and longer walk to match all abilities.
We took the Kochel am See Tour around the lake. Parts of this route are alone the road with relatively heavy traffic and the sign posting could be better.

The Kochelsee was even nicer than the Walchensee. It's more quiet, less crowded and more calm. In the evening when the sun goes down you can see an almost perfect reflection of the mountains in the cristal clear water. Love to take the boat or SUP out.

One of my favourite lakes in Bavaria. Situated 600m above sea level and surrounded by mountains it takes about 4 hours to walk around this lake. Not all of it is right next to the lake but beautiful nevertheless. Dotted with villages along the lake and stunning scenery, a great spot for a day trip or a holiday. It takes about an hour to drive here from Munich.

Peaceful and really clean

I just love the lakes and the mountains in Bavaria. It doesn't matter what weather it is, it is always worth it to go for hike.

Nice experience, verry clean air and water. During sommer is perfect over winter more better, depends on what you like.
