The ticket costs 9.50 euros and gives you the opportunity to walk around the 1 hectare area and visit the museum located on the second floor of the cubic building.
2. A large number of museum exhibits, including armor, bones, coins, arrows and other exhibits.
3. The atmosphere and spirit of the site of two thousand years of battles.
4. Opportunity to walk in the fresh air and personally visit the excavation site.
5. Availability of food upon request.
6. Thematic souvenir department with wines, Roman bread and more. If you love the history of Rome, you should definitely visit this place!

The museum isn't huge, but the way they have set it up is very respectable. As a history fan, and especially a fan of ancient history, I always wanted to visit this museum. Everything is written with evidence based thinking and the scientific method in mind. This museum really is a triumph of archaeology and the multidisciplinary ways that are used to extract data from any small artifact that is found. What is extra fun to me is that this museum is about a specific event that really happened at the site itself, it's not a collection of things from far away like most others museums.

Very fascinating museum and incredibly cool site. Their forensic battlefield archaeology exhibit at the time was fascinating. Also a huge fan of their armor exhibit

Interesting museum about Roman times. The museum also has a park and is housed in a big tower with a great view. We had a guided tour that was engaging, included new research, but also highlighted the ambiguity about the place. I can highly recommend it!

Sophisticated, informative and well-presented. Stunning views from the top of the museum tower over the site of the battlefield. Interesting open-air displays exploring some of the challenges faced by local archaeologists. Well-stocked shop selling a wide range of books addressing the subject of the battle as well as Roman and Germanic tribal culture. Well worth the detour from the Autobahn or drive over from Osnabrueck.

Redde mihi legiones said emporor August according to the account of Tacitus ... this is the place where three roman legions where butchered when they where attempting to expand the empire from the Rhine river to the Elbe river. The german that ambushed the soldier here because due to the conditions of the valley the legion had to form a long line and could form their turtle formation the defend against attacks. The defeat had a large impact on the expansion drifts of the emporor. The place had been a matter of debate a long time since the location mentioned in the reports is currently more South however in the nineties of the last century it became certain that it must have been here

Very cool and interesting.. A lots of artifacts (coins, bones, weapons), some texts are translated to English but not all of them. Anyways, if you like history this is a great place. There's a restaurant, childrens playground, souvenir shop, hiking track, etc.

Two visits and each one a joy, an experience, a deep dive into German-Roman-European history. It is a pivotal event in the greater history of Europe that should not be missed. The events and significance are well described in the museum, and walking the grounds is thought-provoking. As I remember the displays on the grounds might benefit from a bit more care, but inside the displays are superb.

Had a great time. Would be good if the descriptions on individual items in the museum would also be in English.

This was a really interesting exposition concerning the rebellion of the germanic peoples against Varus (a Roman leader). The exhibit is well signed in both English and German, but the tour is given in German. In addition to the well equipped and laid out exhibit, the tour leader was truly passionate and knowledgeable. The archaeologists are continuing the excavation. If you're interested in European history, I highly recommend this exhibit.

Awesome museum. But really lacking in explanatory text in languages other than German. It's still worth visiting even if you don't read German, but you end up missing a lot if you don't. Consider signing up for a guided tour. We got lucky and tagged along with one and it was incredible.

Nice to see the dug up artifacts of the roman army soldiers even though most was in scrapped condition. Most appreciated the Special Exibition showing the replicated tools, weapons and outfits of the Antic warriors and other people part of the treck through the germanic wilderness prevailing 2000 years ago in this region. Still many questions remain open and more discoveries wait to be done in order to define the way the battle occured and where it had the largest clashes.
