Maria Laach Abbey

Great for a day trip. You can hike around the lake, rent a boat, explore the abbey garden centre, buy local handcraft and produce and of course enjoy a spiritual experience in the old abbey especially when listening to the bells. You'll feel transported to a different century.
There's also the abbey restaurant to enjoy reasonably priced and good food while enjoying a sunny day on the outside seating area.
All in all a great experience even if you want to stay to explore more vulcanic lakes for which this area is known for.

We can see the wonderful heritage and legacy of monks Maria Laach. The deep rooted memory of a rich civilisation is hidden in between the sleepin volcanic mountains.

Magic place - nice also for hiking

Must stay over night. It’s an experiment of a day with a walk trip to the lake and night in a hotel that Offer a very nice room and breakfast with amazing view

Beautiful Abbey grounds and lots of hiking paths that go around the lake and the monastery. No fee to enter to the church grounds other than paying for parking if you stay for a while. Inside you still need to wear a mask but the outside areas it is not required on the grounds.

Beautiful location with a lake for walking, animals and a wonderful abbey.
There are some small shops around it for souvenirs, plants ans books. Definitely one good weekend spot to go!!

Very beautiful monastery. Plenty of parking and a very spacious area. Not alot of people know about this. This is a little hidden gem. Definitely visit this place. It is totally free to enter the church but you have to pay for the vehicle you bring. There is a grocery store inside and other stores selling goods too.

What a location. What an environment. God's creation at its finest. Beautiful nature. And a spiritual place, to rest and retreat among brothers. Thank you, God.

Beautiful abbey next to a lake! Went on a beautiful day and enjoyed walking around it. Wonderful depictions of Jesus are inside.

Grand Cathedral and flower garden dating back from 1700s. The architecture is special and spacious quiet area to loiter around and for self exploration.

Very beautiful old Church , a lot of walking trails , a lot of souvenir shops. Also magical figures you can buy by the church that are showing in a beautiful garden.

Beautiful and a must visit.

Unfortunately our visit coincided with time for mass so we didn't get to stay inside long but hearing the monks as the chanted brought a surreal quietness to the place.

Maria Laach is a working Benedictine abbey. It has a large garden center selling beautiful plants and accessories. They have a huge bookstore that sells religious item's made at the abbey. We attended Mass while visiting and it was an incredible experience to hear such beautiful singing in such an ancient church.
