What a delight. Returned for the second year to find the staff even more accommodating and friendly. The room was absolutely amazing. The dinner was to die for. I highly recommend this hotel , an absolute pleasure. Stay more than one night, you won't regret it. I will be going again next year.

Once in a life time experience staying in a medieval castle. Classic yet very comfortable room. A million dollar view of the Rhine. Good walk in a nice garden. Complimentary beer, juice and drinks in the fridge. A kind of complementary liquor i don't know what's it called, smells like Glühwein though. Excellence breakfast.

We loved everything about this hotel- from the shampoo in the shower to the mushroom butter served with dinner. The staff were lovely and friendly. The rooms were beautiful and well-stocked. The atmosphere was stunning. The food was exceptional. Truly enjoyed every moment. We cannot wait to return! Look

Would give Schönburg 100 stars if we could!! This was our second trip to Germany and staying at a castle hotel was on our list. We chose Schönburg and so happy we did. We booked a second night last minute and it was worth every penny. The "hotel guests only" garden access was one of several favorite parts of our stay. We spent an entire day with beautiful weather exploring the extensive garden. We packed some snacks and drinks and had a wonderful time. We also reserved the "romantic stay for gourmets" and absolutely loved the unique menu with local wine pairing. The restaurant staff was amazingly attentive and kind. Our room, Rheinsteinkemenate No. 16, was more beautiful and unique than we could have imagined. We enjoyed our sparkling wine on the quiant balcony with a great view of the Rhine, as well as breakfast one morning. We were there in early October and the castle grounds and hotel were pretty quiet so it felt very special and romantic. We've visited many castles on our two trips to Germany and this was by far our favorite. A great mix of authentic medieval castle and luxurious, 5 star amenities. We cannot wait to come back and stay in a different room and visit the castle museum, as it was closed the days we were there. Once you are there, it will be difficult to leave and you will dream about going back!

I LOVED it and highly recommend! The castle has medieval charm with modern amenities.

No details were spared. In our family suite, there was sherry in a decanter, chocolate and fruit. The bath tub had candles ready to be lit along with bath bubbles. The kids LOVED that they had a separate sleeping space to themselves.

The cherry vanilla Glühwein with gingerbread foam was the best Glühwein that I had all week.

And the topper is that my 7 year old came down with a stomach virus on the day we checked out. He left his precious stuffed animal in the room which the front desk held onto for us. They offered to mail it to our final hotel destination and when we arrived, sure enough, it was there. Christmas crisis averted!

I don’t know if we will be lucky enough to travel back to Germany in our lifetime but if we do, I’d certainly stay here once again.

It was perfect! Everyone was so nice and friendly, the rooms were beautiful and clean, and the castle and gardens were so fun to explore!

My husband and I really enjoyed taking the path from the train station up to the castle, it was such a fun and scenic way to get there.

And the hotel helped us schedule a wine tour followed by a 4 course dinner which was the perfect way to end our trip.

While it did not effect us, I do think this could be a challenging venue for someone with mobility issues. You'd want to make sure you have a car service available to take you to the castle as it is a bit of a walk. Some of the rooms and areas within the castle might also be challenging to get to including parts of the garden. But, there is also a lot to see and do that is more easy to access.

The 400 euros to stay one night in this reconstructed castle was well worth it! Room and grounds were amazing. Friendly staff. Room price included four course dinner and buffet breakfast, both excellent. Charm, history, and attention to detail are present throughout this luxury venue. We'd return to the area just to stay here again.

Being a pilot I travel for a living. I have never stayed at a place more perfect than the Schoenburg Hotel. The view is absolutely amazing, the food is the best I've ever had, the staff is... Well, not sure how many adjectives I know for 'perfect', but either way, this is a place I will return to if I have a choice. Loved every moment of it.

Amazing! This was the first stop on our castle tour through the EU. They did not disappoint. The room was large and the bathroom was modern. Very comfortable. It was all the feel of a castle with all the modern comfort touches.

In one word " amazing"! In more words...incredible delicious food (maybe the best we ever had), served in diningrooms set in this beautiful castle, inspirational surroundings, eye for detail, very friendly staff whom made you feel very welcome. We had the fairytale experience (in jeans). Perhaps also one of the most beautiful views over the Rhein even from the ladies in the brasserie part of the building. If you ever want to feel like you need to spoil yoursef this is the palace to be! We are grateful for the experience, thank you!

From the very moment my foot graced the ancient cobblestone walkway of the Burghotel auf Schonburg, a symphony of emotions surged through me, tears crystallizing in my eyes, while a profound sense of gratitude unfolded in the sanctum of my heart. This castle, with its towers piercing the heavens, is the embodiment of every wishful thought one harbors at the prospect of sojourning in a castle.

The check-in process, albeit somewhat of an uphill encounter, was streamlined and imbued with warmth, paving the way to our sumptuous accommodations. We were bestowed with the privilege of residing in room 25, housing a bathroom of unparalleled dimensions, a regal canopy bed, and a generous sitting area nestled upstairs, every corner whispering tales of the bygone era.

Our two-story suite was a portal to myriad breathtaking vistas, each window framing the rolling landscapes and the skies painting canvases of ever-changing hues. The culinary soirees at the bistro and main dining were a gastronomic symphony, each dish a concoction of unique flavors, never leaving our palates unimpressed.

But the pulse of Burghotel auf Schonburg, the true architect of our once-in-a-lifetime experience, is undeniably the unparalleled dedication and warmth permeating from every member of the team. From the owner's infectious humor to the gracious hospitality of the waitresses and the unwavering dedication of the receptionist, every interaction was a brushstroke painting our stay with unforgettable moments.

This journey was a seamless dance between superior service, historical opulence, and culinary artistry, elevating our stay into an extraordinary realm, and etching the Burghotel auf Schonburg as one of the greatest stays of my life. The castle stands not just as a monument of historical grandeur but as a sanctuary of unmatched hospitality and warmth, rendering every moment spent within its walls a treasured slice of time.

Wow! Wonderful hotel and friendly staff. What a great and fun place to stay. Not sure of the names of the rooms but our first night we stayed in the (room 25) guard house by the entrance to the first courtyard. It had a downstairs and upstairs, the kids 2 beds were on the ground floor along with the very spacious bathroom. Up stairs was a sitting parlor and master bedroom. The next night we had room 41 that overlooked the inner courtyard and room 23 that was in the princess tower. The tower room was small but had a nice veranda that overlooked the Rhine river and town. Room 41 is above one of the restaurants, the room has a large sitting room and bedroom. The veranda is very big and looks down on the courtyard and has a table and 4 chairs and 2 wooden beach chairs. Unfortunately there are ground wasps nesting between the floor stones on the veranda.

Loved staying here!! What a great experience. Do arrange a taxi ride up and down the hill to the castle ahead of time and have the taxi company in your phone contacts.

Absolutely incredible Hotel. Wonderfully restored castle with spacious, themed rooms. Breathtaking hilltop views of the Rhine river below. Attentive friendly service and Five star meals in the restaurant overlooking the river. Also, as a bonus they have a museum on property with the history of the castle and area.

This is an amazing castle experience. Rooms are beautifully modern inside but with the layout and original castle brick. They have a delightful garden just for guest and food was really good. 100% go again. Reception is on an incline from car park but they offer to bring your luggage up for you.

Once or twice in a lifetime experience. The staff and grounds were excellent. The village doesn't have much but it has just enough. The hotel has more. At any given time you could ha e 2 or 4 restaurants and a bistro. The gites itself boasts history and be able to stay there is awesome. Rooms are great (we stayed at the highest room in the top of the tower) plenty to explore including the grounds. I highly recommend at least a 2 night stay if exploring the Rhine river region.

One of my favourite Hotels along the Rhine. Beautiful views and super cozy interiors. The team is exceptionally friendly and welcoming. The food in the restaurant amazing. If you just want to visit the castle with little time, you can sit in the Brasserie and enjoy good food there as well. If you book a room in the hotel you also have the option to visit the fantastic well kept and romantic garden around the castle with a tree house library and round temples in the oak forrest.
