Restaurant Brauhaus zur Sonne

Love this place! The creamy peppercorn and brown cognac chicken schnitzel are two of my favorites here. We also had the red cabbage and pretzels with cheese dip. So delicious! The service is friendly just know they only take Euro. Can't wait to come back!

The main dish was great (Jagerschnitzel), but these home potatoes were some of the best I've ever had! Both dishes definitely complimented each other. Price was decent (18 euros), and the waiter was nice and patient as we walked me through the menu. Great overall experience.

A great place to enjoy reasonably priced and authentic German food. This venue has lots of character and friendly staff. The offering is simple and delicious. They have options for the size of the portion as well, keeping all appetites satisfied. An outdoor eating area is also available.

As a flight attendant who always stays in the area I think its the best German cuisine. The salad dressing is amazing. Schnitzel n potatoes best around

I ordered the pork knuckle (Schweinshaxe) for only €10.90. Reasonably priced, friendly staff, big portions and delicious food! Very worth it.

Schnitzel with mushroom sauce was fantastic, and I don't know what they do to/put on their potatoes, but you'll love them !

I always enjoy dinner here. Good salad and pork schnitzel with brown and creamy mushroom sauce. Service if pleasant and food served hot. Like the potatoes served much better than French fries. Forgot to take a pic before digging in. Nice outside seating inside is quaint.

The chicken schnitzel is delicious! I had no idea how large the servings were and definitely couldn't eat a whole plate to myself.

This is "the" place to eat when we come to Mainz for work. The portions are huge, the price reasonable, nice location, great customer service and the atmosphere you would envision while in Germany.

Brauhaus zur Sonne is always fantastic! They have always treated us well and are welcoming every night! I’ve enjoyed many delicious meals here including Christmas Eve dinner. The food is excellent. There are plenty of choices on the menu and they are very accommodating, allowing you to substitute different sides and options for your meal. Additionally, they have Andechs on draft which is one of the best biers in Deutschland!

I will always recommend Brauhaus zur Sonne.

The food was Delicious and reasonably priced! Generous portions and friendly staff! Air conditioning inside! They speak English, comfortable environment and clean!

I had the Christmas special, Goose drum with chestnut sauce, potato dumplings, and pickles beets. Best thing I've ever had in Europe. Decent price too!

Fantastic local restaurant.
Had basic pork schnitzel with potatoes and a side of red cabbage. My friends had the chicken schnitzel with peach and the other had the schnitzel hawaii.. all smelled amazing. We had a great meal, very cozy and fun place to dine.
Dont go without reservations.

Fantastic, large dish fit for any American. Food and portions were great. Location is awesome during the afternoon when the sun crests over the buildings and lightly touches the tabletops. Be wary though, they only take cash. ATM is around the corner and easy to find. I’ll be going here again on my next trip.

Outstanding little restaurant in downtown area. The chicken schnitzel is heavenly, in the white peppercorn sauce. Great service, and a good selection of beers. And the cost of dinner is extremely reasonable. One of my favorite places to eat.

Multiple airline crews come here. Food is always good and the staff friendly. Best if you make a reservation, but they will do their best to accommodate walk-ins.

Found the place by mistake. Easter Monday and another restaurant had closed early (or never opened) and I did a search on "good food near me" and the Brauhaus came up.

Staff was friendly and the food was good. The menu had a hand written menu for the day's specials and so I ordered the #1 and a bratwurst. They don't take credit cards and I was out of Euro, so they trusted me to hit the ATM and then come back.

And I will be going back quite frequently!!
