Great experience, converted steel mill. If you love seeing how things work you'll love this place. The conversion started after some rock climbers came and turned the storage area into a climbing space and it grew from there. They've done an amazing job bringing nature in, so many flowers! There was also a huge street food festival going on with endless options. Everyone in my family told me it was a great find!

This site is amazing, a former steel manufacturing factory with many historic buildings and equipment turned into an open park with lots of different facilities like restaurants, picnic areas, play grounds, viewing points and much more. All the old factory buildings and equipment are very impressive and part of the park has recently even been used as the filming location for the latest Hunger Games film The Balled of Songbirds and Snakes. Worth a visit for the whole family.

Very impressive and interesting scenery of an ancient time during industrialization. Many buildings seem to be in very good condition even though nature is taking over with grass and plants. Some buildings can be climbed up to 70m with steps for incredible views.
Additionally you'll find some playgrounds for kids and some places to snack.

What an awesome spot filled with amazing structures - many of which you can work on / into / over, including right up to the top! Really cool.

I really recommend a visit after sunset and in daylight. I will be back. This is a unique and very interesting park. Take a step back in time and get a glimpse of what it must have been like when the factory was operating.

Great place to have a look around. It's free! Dogs are allowed with leash. Very cool park and great to see the old blast furnaces. Much bigger than the Carrie Blast Furnaces in Pittsburgh. Parking is free, but can be difficult to find a spot.

Maybe a bit niche but well worth a visit if you like industrial archaeology. (And even if you don't there are loads of walks / bike trails etc.) The view from the top of the blast furnace is epic and it's all free entry.

Amazing. Refreshing "alternative " to a typical park. Entry is free and there is plenty of place to picnic. Toilets are abundant. Even toddlers can have a goo time on the ground level. All ok the ground is stroller-Ok. There are no elevators, so going up is on 2 legs.
One improvement opportunity: more e car charging stations! The 2 that were there were either defective or you couldn't charge.....

A little or not so little piece of steel industry history. Free to park and lots to see. In the car park alone there bit and piece of interest. Then you wander across the road, and the adventure really gets going. We climb furence number 5 to see the views. Walked along gantries to see the size and immense power of the heat and steam produced to create steel. Then there is an area turned into climbing walls and walking route to stretch the legs. At least 2 toliet blocks and a cafe. Agreat stop for the whole family to explore.

Former steel factory now a very nice park. They did a great job of maintaining it and made many of the spaces accessible with just a few design tweaks. Exploring on your own is enjoyable. You can climb up to the top of one of the towers to get a view of the area while learning about the previous factory processes.

I really enjoyed this place. A photographer's dream and fun for everyone. The kids thought it was cool, plenty of space to run around, free entrance, free parking...all good things. So much to look at that I'd like to return to explore more. Happy that bathrooms were open. We packed sandwiches and sat on a bench, which was nice. If going during day, best to go early so it's quiet. By the time we left (11am on Saturday), it was starting to get busier.

For someone interested in industrial heritage of NRW and industrial processes in general this is a must! Apart from that, from a landscape architects point of view also quite interesting! Nature taking over such a uninviting industrial space is very reassuring to see, possibly mankind has a chance of survival! Loved what they did to the place and will definitely be coming back to do some more exploration! Also we stumbled upon a food festival taking place, such great use of space!

It's a perfect place for the visit. It's free, it's industrial, it's not pessimistic. Great Landschaft Park in the industry area of the Ruhrpott. I was there with kids and we went upstairs to the highest point.
