Bítov Castle

We enjoyed this castle more than most that we visited in Czechia. Be sure to take the first tour, which shows you the last owner's bizarre collection of stuffed animals from all over the world, including stuffed dogs (see photos). Also there is a nice wine tasting place there. All in all, very enjoyable.

We took a boat trip from Vranov, which was very nice. But you can also drive there directly.

A monumental castle decorating the picturesque Dyje river and sorrounding valleys.

You can spot the castle from the main road heading towards Bitov village and the Podyji National Park. However, to get here, you can either park near Bitov campsite and take the longer route (45-60 mins) or get closer and park at the official parking and walk on the tarmac only about 15 minutes.

To get to the castle, you need to pay an entry fee ranging from 50-200 CZK for an adult, depending on what you want to see.

The basic entry is enough to walk around the courtyard, visit the gardens (including a little zoo), inside of a church, various small galleries or grab a snack in a castle's café. Well enough for an hour or two.

I personally liked it, but there were a lot of people even in May, so I'd advise to visit outside of summer.

Beautiful castle in a stunning area. The staff is really nice, prices are ok, there is a restaurant inside where you can eat or just take a coffee and it is a dog friendly place.

I've visited the castle on several occasions. It's surrounding is an absolute gem of nature and the castle is magnificent and well taken care of.

The castle wasn't open but the view and walk were very beautiful. I recommend to visit even if the castle is closed.

The juggling event (today was at 16:00) where kids were invited to try their skills was great. It was as much fun for the adults as for the kids (if only you understand Czech language).
The castle is tiny, but cute. Don't skip the garden (included in the "small" ticket 50CZK).

A really beautiful castle, the gardens are a great spot to just sit and enjoy some local wine. The view to the city is also amazing, overall it is really worth going.

Armory is only open until Friday, but the castle is beautiful. Pity the guided tour doesn't allow a lot of time for really admiring the stuffed animal exposition.

This would be one of the most interesting castles in the the country with very nice and interesting interiors and beautiful exterior. Recommended for any one interested in history.
