We came during the blacksmith festival. It was a unique and cultural experience. Metal art exhibits around the castle, and you can also see how they are making at the workshops. It's amazing.

Nice castle with beautiful views, I highly recommend to see the website in advance as they often have interesting shows and witskops open during the summer.

IMPORTANT NOTE

I would avoid eating at the castle's restaurant as the food was not tasty nor appetising. Have a lunch in the nearby pub or restaurants instead, you will do yourself a favour.

Beautifully restored Helfstyn has a lot to offer to families with children or history enthusiasts. Easy (1h) walk from Lipník nad Bečvou. A must see if you travel to Moravia.

What a pretty castle, definitely one of my favorite ones from this area. The restoration they managed to do here was stunning, thanks to it you can visit all of the castle wall floors with beautiful views from the whole place.

The castle also has the widest defense walls in Europe (a bit over 9 meters!) The wall is appropriately named "Široká"(literally meaning w
"Wide" in Czech)

It's also a place where each year blacksmiths from all around Europe come together and have a smithing competition together. You can see the best pieces displayed all around the castle, while most of them are great, few ones ruin the atmosphere of the old castle.
The local guide that went with us through the castle was knowledgeable and pretty funny too.

Great experience with the kids. We went there for a military history festival, it was awesome. The kids liked the show a lot, the grownups liked the castle. The farthest part has a watchtower with a wonderful view. Moreover, this part has been renovated by building new steel passageways inside old rock walls, which especially helps to appreciate these old constructions. The castle is on a hill so in the morning it was considerably colder than down in the valley.

Despite high prices of parking (150 Kč - 6 euro) and entrance fees (150 Kč per head), such a lovely place to visit! But do not bring a stroller - no way you will move there

I'm very impressed. I remember this place as a little boy. What a change. Beautifully clever restoration gives this place new life. Just amazing what can be done from a run down ruins.

Amazing castle, even if there are some part in restoration. If you speak Czech you can enjoy the history of the different weapons in a very funny way. Absolutely suggested

Even with rainy weather, this place is to worth visiting. Without a free tour guide, you can still learn something about the history of this centuries-old castle, but with it, the experience is enhanced. Beautiful sculptures from students decorate the surroundings and inner places.

Beautiful views of the surrounding area. I visited with my fiance in mid October, when all the trees were changing. It was beautiful 😍

Wonderful castle with nice views. In autumn, thanks to its surrounding woods, it's full of colours. Smiths from around the world have here their symposium once a year.

It looks really nice but there are special metallic and glass constructions to prevent ruining and it changed a lot this beautiful place

Beautiful place, one of the biggest castles in Europe. At the moment not fully opened because it is being reconstructed a bit but still well worth a visit if you like this kind of places.

Amazing castle, nicely reconstructed. Tours are both good and reasonably long. Plenty of parking spaces provided nearby.
