Uhrovec castle

Easily accessible, the hike is not too long and not too difficult. Souvenirs are available, groups can book a room for the night! The castle is being conserved a d renovated.

Castle is one of my favorite. Build on side of hill with walk just about good for kids, offers great views. You can buy some refreshments and souvenirs if you like. It is still under reconstruction. If it is not enough for you, there are some historical places to be seen in Uhrovec village or very nice small church in Ksina village near by. Beautiful ruins of The Uhrovec Castle offers wide look to nearby hills. Castle is at the moment in under construction but fully available for visitors. From the Uhrovske Podhradie you can choose 2 paths to The Castle. I do not recommend Green path, which is hard to steep climb. I recommend path under The Castle's hill which is latter connected to blue path right to The Castle.

This castle was amazing. Let's start with parking. There is pretty sizable parking lot at the end of the village, although you won't really see any cars there if you go during the work days and especially earlier in the morning. Sign there says that the hiking trip takes about 55 mins, and it's pretty much spot on. The gradient is totally manageable also for older people. The castle itself is full of volunteers renovating it and a great black doggo which always begs for pets. You will also be able to visit a little museum with some artifacts found on the site and some models which show how castle looked before it fell to ruins. Views are amazing and you will not be disappointed. 100% recommended even for hikers beginners.

Very nice castle ruin, currently under restoration so you will encounter volunteers, and find scaffolding and building materials there. Nice view from the windows. You have to take approx 45min trek (2 trails available) to get there from nearest parking lot, worth every step. Also serves as tourist shelter (very basic).

Great ruin of a castle which is in the proces of being renovated by local volunteers. Local guy lives there and sells some trinkets, beer and you can even sleep in it. You read that right, you can sleep in the ruin of this castle. If you're in the neighborhood I can totally recommend checking this out.

Beautiful gem among the hills, untainted by the passing of the ages. Expect a long hike!

Asi najkrajšia zrúcanina na ktorej som bola. Veľmi nás prekvapil kúsok maľby ktorý sa zachoval v kaplnke a naozaj je tu vidieť veľa skvelo odvedenej práce od dobrovoľníkov.

Stredne náročná túra po kratšej trase ale pomerne strmým chodníkom cez les (po zelenej značke.) Počas sucha nie náročná. Dlhšou ale pohodlnejšou trasou, kde som videl aj ľudí na invalidných vozíkoch, a s kočiarikmi som nešiel, takže neviem posúdiť. Parkovisko pre autá je na konci obce. Na hrade je možné uvidieť kaplnku s pôvodnými neodkrytými maľbami a zachovaný stredoveký prevet (hradný záchod). Pred vstupom do hradu sa pásol pomerne otravný baran, ktorý sa na nás okamžite "zavesil" a niečo od nás chcel. Evidentne bol zvyknutý na kŕmenie od návštevníkov. Na hrade sa pracovalo. Predajňa bola v čase našej návštevy pre pandémiu Covid-19 zatvorená.

Uhrovec je moje srdcovka. Byl jsem tu poprvé v minulem stoleti v roce 1999 na čundru a slavili jsme tu kamarady tehdy i silvestr. Rád se sem vracím. Ted v krásném babim létě kdy jsou z okolních lesů slyšet hlasy jelenů v říji.
