Pernštejn Castle

Magnificent castle with great history. Well preserved on the outside and inside. A guided tour is necessary to see the inside rooms and towers and definitely worth it, especially the library at the end. It is advisable to arrive early. And recommended to take a path from the parking lot through the woods leading to one of castle gates.

Fantastic. We thoroughly enjoyed the guided tour. The castle is very quirky, full of surprising details. Warning - while taking the dirt path from the car park, keep to the right. That was not entirely straight forward to be honest. Also the castle was properly cold (April), colder than outside, so dress up.

I got myself the following program: "Od gotiky do 20. století (základní okruh)". The guide was a great storyteller and everyone listened to him carefully. Quite diverse and interesting rooms, their filling and history. Absolutely recommend to visit.
Before the start of the tour, you will be asked to leave backpacks and large bags in a special storage room.

Majestic and yet a calm place to view. The restaurant and Cafe shop are good. The price of tickets for guided tour may be higher,but worth it. Very well maintained and parking could be crowded during peak seasons...

Beautiful castle with lots of gorgeous views, food available and accept card can also get a train to the top of the hill and back down when done

A wonderful place to visit. You can see the history of the castle from 13th century until present day. Excellent guided tours. Fantastic views from the castle, entertaining and knowledgeable guides. Obviously the castle is not wheelchair accessible. Gift shops and coffee to go available. Overall a very pleasant experience, highly recommended.

Its a beautiful castle nearby our city. This can be a one-day trip. The most wirth to visit is the garden outside the castle.

Very well preserved medieval castle. It is not allowed to walk around on one's own, but we joined a Czech tour and were give printed information in English, it worked really well. Tour was 80 mins and children were bored by the end of the tour, but we, adults, enjoyed it.

Parking for 2-3 hrs was 100CZK and a walkto the castle was an easy uphill climb, 5-10 minutes long.

Good castle from middle age. Prefer for people who came to Czech Republic and want to know about historic of Moravia. There is excursion inside of castle for 7 euro (summertime 2016).

Wow! Incredible castle, Tour guides are informative, Great view from any angle. The bathrooms could be a little closer to each other, but overall Incredible.

Interesting place only 30 mins drive from Brno. Worth checking...

As always, e great familly trip. We recommend the short castle tour, which is long enough to enjoy the old atmosphere and get its excitement.

Nice majestic castle. Hero of a few czech made movies, fairytales. The admission proce is quite steep. Huge parking place right below the castle, 10min walk uphill. Credit cards accepted at the front desk. Three variants of commented tour. Restaurant was not working that time, so I cannot rate that one.

Book your tour beforehand, park your car and go to the castle by ecotrain. The castle is one of the oldest in the world actually, and really beautiful. Lots of movies were shot there. You can take pictures (no flash use though), and you get English sheet with information. You can also have (more expensive) English tour, ordered before.

Awesome castle with great history. Even the "small" sightseeing circuit was enough, even though it does not include the top floors of the castle. The guide does know the history very well and was prepared to answer every question we had. Sightseeing groups of tourists were pretty small (around 12 people) so it did not feel that crowded and the atmosphere was very enjoyable.

V 15. a 1. pol. 16. stol. opevněn a renes. rozšířen (Vilém II. z Pernštejna). R. 1596 hrad koupil Pavel Katharýn z Katharu, poté několikrát změnil majitele. R. 1945 zestátněn.

Amazing castle, like from fairy tales. Must see for all visitors, definitely worth the time and money.

Castle is located in the forrest easily reachable by path only few hundreds of metres long. Castle itself is huge, spread on the hill. Built in 13th century, improvement construction works went through later periods to reach the current status which is really impressive. In general this castle is one of the Must see. Highly recommended.

Quite impressive gothic castle that has seen style upgrades all the way through reneissance to rococo. The guided tour of the interior is well worth it, you'll get a decent history lesson while visiting a maze of interesting rooms and halls. Most European castles that are open to tourist visits are usually scarce on furniture and decorations, but this one is in the better half. It contains both the originals and good replicas of items. Be sure not to miss the rococo decorated chapel in the inner courtyard.
