It’s our favorite castle. We came here a long time ago and recently brought our kids back to see it. It has something for everyone. My 13 year old son loved the armory and the sheer amount of antique weaponry, plus the number of animals on display. My 18 year old daughter was enthralled with the grounds, the peacocks, bear and other animals, and of course the romanticism of the castle itself. There are 3 or 4 different tours depending on what you want to see. We were short on time so we only did the armory. We would have done another if time had allowed. One of our favorite parts was the little walk up bar next to the gift shop in the parking lot. It was run by the nicest gentleman and had wonderful sausage stuffed in bread, lattes and desserts. We sat outside on a beautiful day and enjoyed the area. It’s also very close to Prague. We stopped here on our way to Hluboka. We were able to do both tours in one day! You can purchase tickets in the ticket office and there is a nice, free restroom on site.

Such a difference such a short distance from Prague! We went as it was recommended by a Czech friend who has gone their for years. May I suggest the second parking area? The first had a restaurant and plenty of parking but the walk up the hill was very steep and unpaved.

Walking around the grounds themselves was delightful. Statuary, views, and verdant lawns were in abundance. Near the castle entrance was a clever display board with information on over a dozen areas of interest and history - in Czech, English, and German. Picking the language was easy I learned things I hadn't known.

We didn't get to see the castle interior as all the tours the Friday we visited were in Czech. Our Czech is not nearly good enough! But the courtyard was lively, with little cafes and a peacock! The small dog with us was curious but left the big bird alone.

We found out that dogs are not allowed in the Rose Garden as well as the castle interior. The garden, what we could see, looked colorful and well tended. But our favorite place at the foot of the castle hill was the lake. Peaceful, cool, and watching the fish jump was a nice break from the hustle of Prague.

Czech Republic has a true gem in this hunting castle by the lake. Please visit if you have a chance.

The place is really good for a day trip. Good place to discover history and how it changed. To know what happened to them and how beautiful where the armours. There are restaurant near. Big garden to wall around and even feed some animals. Its 30mins walk to city center to take transportation back to Prague. Great walk in the nature!

Very interesting castle to visit, it was the castle of Franz Ferdinand and his huge weapons collection is still there. You have to book a tour in advance with a guide, there are multiple tours of different parts of the castle. Tours are in Czech but there were audioguides in other languages available. No pictures allowed inside but really worth a visit. Nice grounds with garden and lake outside as well.

Fantastic day, walking around Konopište Castle.

We drive 45 minutes to spend the day afternoon here, walking around this amazing landmark, soaking in the history.

It's worth the drive, unique sights and one can feel the centuries of history here, as you can in many of the wonderful places in the Czech Republic.

We did not get to the castle territory itself, Sunday is a day off.
It is very beautiful around, you can walk for several hours enjoying the views. Also, on the territory there is a playground with deer and an aviary with a bear.

Konopiště Is a very quiet and lovely place with a big park. It is only 2km walk from Benešov town. Locals love taking walks in this beautiful park. If you plan a trip to Benešov, don't forget to visit Konopiště. You will not regret.

The castle has a very extensive collection of artifacts: armour and hunting trophies. We find objects belonging to Franz Ferdinand and his wife very interesting. The castle is very closely connected with their lives. I definitely recommend to take guided tours

We love spending time here with our kids. They really enjoy the surroundings, the peacocks walking around, having a picnic, watching the bear, buying tasty sweets from chocolate factory, feeding the animals (we always bring carrots with us).
We've been here in all seasons, but best time for visiting the place is during spring when all flowers bloom. During summer its pretty crowded, but still worths, during autumn are the best landscapes.

One of the most interesting castles in the Czech republic. The interior is very rich and authentic, in the outside there are bears in the gardens and also other forest animals on the way up to the castle

The castle has a history of Franz Ferdinands and his apartments, weapons chapel etc. A particular tour takes up to an hour and costs around 250kc per person (plus 60kc for the Audio device if you want an English translation)

You will see the old weapons used, his bedroom, Church, some garments, etc and the history behind them.

Aside that, there is a nice botanical garden arround full of roses and peacocks.

Its worth the visit.

A very simple, yet elegant castle with pretty gardens filled where you can see peacocks if you're lucky. There are also deers and a bear (forgot to mention it was used by the royal family during hunting season)

Very interesting Castle, with one of the best collections I've saw in Czech Republic. The adjacent area is super nice, with a very cool path trough the forest to get there and by the lake nearby. The restaurant inside is also quite good too! Totally recommended!

Very nice castle and the surroundings full of natural treks. During the weekend, however, it is packed with people, kids, and dogs who come from Prague. And Mondays are holidays. It is very pretty with the less risk of getting lost. Going around the pond is nice.

from the outside it doesn't look like much but the inside is gorgeous.
