Hostal Casa Galbraith

What a great place to stay when in Colon. The owners, Raul and his family, have established a lovely little guest house close to the centre of Colon. While Colon is not a tourist hot-spot, it bustles with authentic Cuban life and showcases many beautiful colonial-style buildings, including Casa Galbraith. The guest room is large and comfortable and includes a modern bathroom. Breakfast was plentiful and the front porch invites to relax in the evening. I was pleasantly surprised by the hospitality and helpfulness of Raul and his family, and if you don't speak Spanish no worries, English and Russian will do as well.

There is sufficient room for my bicycle and the location is very central

The owners are very friendly people. The place is a beautiful museum-like colonial house with antique furniture. The room has two sections, BR and sitting area in addition to a modern, newly-built en suite bathroom. It's a very clean and quiet place. The breakfast was plentiful and delicious which included coffee, homemade cheese, omelet, fresh fruit and juice.

Great Host

We had a night in Casa Gailbraith on our way to Varadero. Usually no tourist to see in colon. But if you go By bicycle like us, it's very comfortable from Cienfuegos to Varadero. Spotless clean, new renovated bathroom and plenty of space. The breakfast was amazing and the restaurant next door as well. The chat with the english speaking family members Raul & Lidia & Aimara & George was great to learn about the daily life from the cubaneiros.

How, what a nice experience! Is by all means probably not crowded by tourists but that's the point! You want to discover Cuba, well take a break at this Casa! Our surprise was huge, I did not expect that. The small typical town in the middle of the huge cane sugar fields and some impressive sugar factories makes this place so interesting. We're at the origin's of Cuba's most important and historic activity. A place to visit and receive the warmth of these kind owners of the casa. Just all well organised, they will be there for you as we did receive this nice gift to be there! A house full with architectural beauties of the 50'ties and antiquities I rarely encountered in the casa's we went through. I would call it "A passage to Cuba" it's central and is a way to take some nice and peaceful time.

quatrième voyage a cuba et toujours une petite halte a la casa Galbraith chez Raul.La ville de Colon n'est pas une destination touristique par excellence mais c est un réel plaisir de venir y retrouver le quotidien du peuple cubain.
la casa est située sur l axe principal de Colon et l on peut tout faire a pied .On peut se deplacer aussi pour les petits trajets en carrosse a cheval et c est très plaisant. .zone piétonne avec quelques commerces . la trova sans touristes pour écouter de la bonne musique dans une bonne ambiance .

la chambre est très grande, avec une première entrée ,canapé, frigidaire tv et salle de bains impeccable.ensuite une grande chambre style rococo
on s y sent bien.
petit déjeuner copieux avec jus de tamarin et café excellent.
et le WIFI marche tout le temps( fantastique)
Raul parle de son pays avec passion( en français qu il a appris a l'école)et il s intéressé aussi a tous les sujets en général et c est un vrai plaisir d échanger avec lui.
voila si vous passez dans le coin n hésitez pas a faire une petite halte.

Estuvimos alojados en esta maravillosa casa, gran casa y toda rodeada de vegetacion y bosque.
La habitacion enorme, con una ante-sala muy grande , con nevera llena de refrescos y agua grande de obsequio, T.V pantalla plana y gigante.
Aire acondicionado , el baño privado grande moderno y muy funcional.
Los anfitriones unas excelentes personas, muy atentos y siempre dispuestos a resolver nuestra dudas.
Buen desayuno.

este lugar lo conozco porq queda serca de donde vivo, no lo e visitado pero dicen que está muy bueno. Mi pueblo lindo Colon
