This was the most beautiful place I have ever stayed. The room was breathtaking - Serenity - it was very private and had a beautiful outdoor shower. I’ve never had service that wonderful (shoutout to Ricardo and Din!). It was really, truly amazing. The staff are so kind and attentive to every little detail. The food was incredible and there is no need to leave the hotel to eat. The restaurant serves three meals a day and you can opt to eat at a romantic beach table if you like. There is beach service, (and the drinks are AMAZING - shoutout to Daniel!) so you can park your butt in a beach chair all day and not have to leave 😊
The staff go the extra mile to make sure you are comfortable and enjoying your stay. They took the time to learn my name and always had time to show me the wildlife in the trees or to ask my plans for the day. I was so sad to leave, it truly feels like you’re home when you are there. I can’t wait to go back!

This hotel is amazing! Every staff member we met remembered us and treated us very well. The breakfasts were amazing, the rooms are super nice and comfortable and we saw monkeys and sloths and birds and crabs and a local cat friend. The beach area was super clean and inviting and the drinks are great.

Out by far best stay in Costa Rica. The hotel is right behind the beach with some rooms providing ocean view. The room that we had was amazing with a large terrace towards the ocean. At the beach, there is a beach bar open from around 11 until late which provides cocktails, food and other drinks as well as beach loungers for the guests.
The restaurant is also recommended. They offer a 3-course menu where you can choose between 6 - 8 options per course for a total of 45$. Additionally there are a lot of other restaurants in the area.

Such a gem! It is hidden in the best way possible, meaning the Location itself is quiet and the beautiful bay never crowded! Our room, better said bungalow was so pretty in all its details! Especially liked the small pool and the impression to be surrounded by Jungle! Everything was clean, if not spotless! The main house itself and the the whole area has a great architecture and arrangement.
Food was delicious, the staff super friendly and helpful! We really enjoyed our stay and were able to get our much needed relaxation. Highly recommend!

This place is amazing in every detail. Costa Rica on the Caribbean side is often overlooked but this is a place that you should consider. The staff is so friendly and welcoming. Everyone from the front desk to the grounds crew, who meticulously maintain the grounds. Its a small boutique hotel, so its quiet with only the sound of the waves and wildlife to interrupt your serene trip. The rooms are spotless and couldn't have had a better room. The beach is so close by to wash away the day and as relax as you can be. The close proximity to Puerto Viejo makes it easy to get active and soak in some nightlife.

We stayed in August 2023 for two nights at the aWa Beach hotel with our two kids. The location directly at the beach and the architecture of the hotel is just stunning and stylish. Definitely one of the best places we stayed during our Costa Rica trip. However, even if we give a 5-star rating, we just want to mention two points which need improvement. We had one room in the first floor with Ocean view and one room at the ground floor with Garden view. Comparing both type of rooms, the ground floor is rather disappointing and is not worth the money. Further the staff did not always give us the feeling of being welcome. The service was rather standardized and impersonal. Observing me going upstairs three times to bring my luggage down on my own without offering a helping hand is a Nogo for a hotel in this class. So the five stars a rather for the location, style and quality of the food.

We had an amazing time at Awa Beach Hotel. The Ocean View Master (room Pepa) was beautiful, with its own patio and sea views. We loved waking up in the morning and enjoying a cup of coffee looking at the waves from our private outdoor area. Location is great if you value privacy, relaxation and comfort. It's an easy 12-minute drive to Puerto Viejo by tuk tuk (6k colones), if you fancy a more exciting night. The beach is one of the nicest in the area.
What really enhanced our experience was the staff. Service was professional but also friendly and with a personal touch, exactly what you would hope from a small boutique hotel. In particular, Ricardo was amazing at preparing cocktails, making sure we always had everything we needed and he also shared a lot of information with us on the area and gave us recommendations.
Compared to larger luxury hotels, you can expect some minor glitches in room service, room cleaning/re-stocking, laundry etc., but this is to be expected given the nature of this hotel and the attentive service more than made up for any small issues there. Staff were always ready to quickly rectify anything we brought to their attention.
Overall, we had an amazing time and would highly recommend!

My wife and I spent a week at Awa in early April 2023. Wow what a fabulous slice of paradise! Facilities live up to the boutique name and service was top notch from quick responses before to thorough and kind service while there. The rooms (stayed in Ocean) felt like middle of rain forrest while you walk out to the reception and have a view of the ocean. Sounds of both monkeys and waves from the room! Great areas to lounge. And the food was literally so good we opted to just eat 80% of our meals there (45 dollar 3 course plus wine menu). Prices are not cheap but are reasonable for the location, convenience and service. Enjoy!

It was great! Really beautiful property and trendy rooms. Rooms were clean, secure, private and well stocked with what you would ever need. Restaurant was super tasty for all breakfast lunch and dinner meals. Highly recommend the banana coconut pancakes for breakfast. The staff was all awesome, accommodating and ‘at your service!’ It’s right on the beach and they have beach loungers right there for you to use. The beach was not crowded ever and was so quiet and nice. Oh and there weee the cutest crabs on the property. :) I would definitely stay here again!

We found this hidden place by chance and we loved it. This boutique hotel offers food even if you are not staying in the hotel. We had breakfast (buffet - fresh fruit smoothies, bread, fruit, some cakes and pastries, cheese, plantain, etc) and ordered a warm plate - Gallo pinto and huevos rancheros). We paid $50 for this.
They have sun chairs in the beach and beds close to the restaurant area which we used the whole morning at no additional cost.
The service was extremely friendly and attentive all the time.
It was great to find this hidden gem, we had such a relaxing morning in the beach thanks to their facilities.
Would definitely recommend this place and would come back!

Our first indication of a great stay was when we could not find anyone that knew where the hotel was located, including locals. There is a somewhat non-descript road leading to a quiet area back in the rain forest, just off the beach, where Awa is located. It is literally hard to spot as it set in as natural a setting as you would hope to find. The ambiance and design are amazing! The hotel is an open concept in the lobby area, and the 10 rooms are spread across the small property, so privacy is amazing in such a small space. You eat outside, under cover, with a view of the beach, which is literally 100 steps away. Drinks served on the beach makes it that much better! The breakfast is top notch, and I would definitely recommend the huevos rancheros and gallo pinto. The fresh fruit, pastries and meats are tasty, and the arroz con leche is a treat! The staff are some of the nicest young people you will ever meet. They genuinely want to make your stay comfortable, and are willing to share their knowledge of the area. Quite honestly, they were the highlight of our stay. They even gave us a little present from the staff upon our departure, which truly touched our hearts. If you are looking for perfection, well go and spent a ton more money and good luck with that. If you want a beautiful hotel, with great people and tasty food, this is a great place. My wife and I will definitely return, and we will miss our daily conversations with the staff. Thank you and pura vida!

Truly an escape to a jungle paradise. Surrounded by nature and wildlife on the most beautiful beach. The staff is exceptionally nice and helpful. Dinnier helped point out sloths, macaws, and told us a lot of fun facts about the wildlife. Christian gave us many great recommendations and served the most delicious food. The rooms are chic with a nice modern design and lovely porches where you can sit and watch monkeys in the trees. Very quiet and peaceful. Also loved that there were no TVs but great fast internet and phone reception. This place has it all!

This hotel is beyond fantastic!! The rooms are amazing, clean and private. The food and service is some of the best we have experienced anywhere. The staff are a true credit to the hotel and really made our stay there. The location is perfect for a Caribbean getaway.

What will stay with us for sure is the amazing service in the awà beach hotel. Cristian, Felix and all the other staff members really try their best to make you feel welcome and to fulfill you every wish. It was surely the best service we experienced in whole Costa Rica. The rooms are big, clean and very modern. The breakfast buffet is good and contains different local food. All in all we had a very nice stay.

Outstanding Hotel… great staff, great architecture, great decoration, amazing food and drinks at affordable price. We enjoyed every moment since arrival to departure. Definitely, we will be back!!!

My sister and I had such a great time here. By far one of the best in the area. I love how its hidden and tucked away, the service was quick, friendly, and professional and rooms are seriously modern with comfortable beds. I can tell the owner takes pride into putting in quality service for the clients. And for that reason, I would come back. The beach is swimmable unlike other beaches in Costa Rica. Its clean for the most part, and I got to experience a lot of wildlife such as Macayos, colorful birds, frogs, and butterflies. Overall, excellent.
One quick note, the parking is a little tight I would suggest opening it a bit more so its easier to park and get out.

We stayed here for honeymoon. Very modern hotel in the nicest ambient directly at a dream beach. Also very vegan friendly with an own card. Service is so kind to us, but at the restaurant a bit slow.
Last night they upgraded us to the master suite for free which was the most awesome room we‘ve ever been to!! Thank you so much!!

Went to celebrate my birthday there. Excellent service. Comfy mattress. Good food. Great vibes. The Serenity room is lovely. Had some technical difficulties with the bathtub but Dinnier, Edwing, & Josef did an fabulous job of troubleshooting and resolving the matter.

Very much looking forward to staying again.

Very lovely boutique hotel. Very friendly staff with extraordinary service. Awesome places to chill at the beach. Very silent area, the only sound is the sea.
Would be a last idea to have some mosquito window protection at the rooms.
All in all a prefect stay.
