El Patio Cafe

I think this is the first Google review I write and that already says a lot 🤩. The acai bowl was to die for and the coffee too, so smooth that you dont need to put sugar in it because its not bitter at all. Really liked the chilled atmosphere, too. Oh, and very important! They have ventillators all over so you’re not gonna sweat, because there’s such nice breeze.🌬🥰

Tied for best spot for lunch and brunch in town!! Truly fantastic salads, bowls, and the espresso banana shake it out of control!

For fresh and large salad portions come to El Patio. Delicious! Set in a cool outside vibe on the main road. Also try the breakfast burrito…outstandingly delicious!

One of my favorite places to eat in Santa Teresa. Creative and tasty smoothie bowls and great lunch options. The coffee is also spectacular! The service and staff are excellent. Howler monkeys hanging out in the tree in front of the cafe were not a bad addition either.

I pen this review in situ, the Ooga-Chaka Ooga-Chaka of Blue Swede’s “Hooked on a Feeling” seamlessly cross-fading into Van Morrison’s “Brown Eyed Girl.” And from a low table in the corner of El Patio I can survey this late morning scene and pronounce it properly, if perfectly, archetypal. Immediately before me are four women, all facing the central axis of the cafe, in various states of digital distraction, conveying an affect of this epoch, their total presence, what with carefully inked tattoos and face-framing hairdos, and yet with an elsewhereness so intubated that I can’t detect if any one of them would welcome gregariousness. And still, they, and everyone else here, exude an ease and an appreciation for the well-executed simplicities of this somewhere, free of pretence and striving, a place to be alone, a place to be alone together, a place to cackle in a large group over unfussy eggs, and down one of the better espressos on this beach.

If a laid-back atmosphere and great food is what you want, this is definitely the place for you! Breakfast and lunch items. Everything here was amazing and tasty. Our party of 6 tried almost all the menu items, the staff very helpful and friendly, and the owner Juan is an awesome guy! He helped with many suggestions, and they went well out of their way to accommodate us! Great location just a short walk from the beach. A must visit!

Local eatery with terrific seating and great service.

I was staying in the AirBnb the host owns that is behind the house (also recommend that property if it’s open!) so I had the opportunity to try a bunch of dishes at the cafe.

I recommend the full tico (well balanced meal with beans and rice, eggs, and plantains) and the pinky (smoothie with local tropical fruit). The cafe has an assortment of drinks, both espresso-based and more smoothie-based. Owner of the cafe is also super nice and approachable.

The restaurant is open from 7:30 to 4 PM, but gets busy around 8:30.

Wish I could give more stars… the tico burrito is INCREDIBLE. The coffee is excellent. Really friendly service and the atmosphere is perfect- lots of shaded comfy places to sit with fans and wifi. A must visit in Santa Teresa.

The smoothie bowl is genuinely one of my favourite breakfasts ever. And the coffee is good, friendly folk and just a lovely place to sit.

I stopped in here for a juice and it was a really pleasant experience. Delicious juice, the food other people had looked great, it was very cool which was a welcome change when some restaurants have been very warm with no breeze, friendly service, and also the whole place was so so clean and tidy - including the bathroom which has also been rare here. Would definitely like to come back.

Crowded in the mornings! But still a relaxing place. Try the banana iced coffee, so delicious! Like a smoothie and a coffee at the same time. They have almond and coconut milk, for the vegans out there. Service is fast and friendly.

Our favorite place in Santa Teresa for breakfast! The staff was very nice and we felt welcomed from the beginning. Food was very good (try the banana coffee!) and so was the price . Would love to go there again :)

The tico burrito bowl was so delicious!! It’s a beautiful location, surrounded by greens and the staff are very kind. The detox juice was amazing as well! Can’t wait to go back!

Loved the surfer-style, laid-back atmosphere. Everyone seemed to be super chill. The smoothies were so nice with a huge variety of different options.

Saying “friendly staff” doesn’t do this place justice. Staff is 10/10 and the ladies in the kitchen are making the food with love. Chicken salad is super fresh and HUGE. A great option to share with a friend. Mucho Gracias 🙏🏼
