Rancho Matambú playa Grande

This place is literally awesome. Everything is designed with lots of love. The owners are incredibly friendly, helpful and take good care of you. Everything (pool, kitchen room..) was new and clean! They even gave us a free lift from town to pick us up.

Newly remodeled lodge located in Huacas, 15min from Playa Grande and 20min from Tamarindo. We stayed in a 2 bedrooms / 1 bathroom apartment, initially for 2 nights and ended up staying for 4 nights. Fully equipped kitchen and a beautiful teak dining table (omg). The apartment is facing west so you will experience a lot of gorgeous sunset views (the light brings a warmth and comfortable vibe). Parking spot in the courtyard for our SUV.
Patrick and Mina are a French couple that owns the lodge, they did their best to accomodate and help us: the right surf spot advice depending on the weather conditions, beach directions and access, Tamarindo bars and restaurants...

And they also offer boat trips: fishing, snorkeling, skurfing or surf spot access by boat... (we did it!)

Con respecto al lugar, cada una de las cabañas, son muy acogedoras. Una tiene aire acondicionado, y otras, disponen de ventiladores. Son muy limpias, con los materiales de limpieza y cocina necesarios. La piscina, luego de un largo día de playa, permite no peder la "costumbre" con el agua en las noches.

Con respecto a los encargados del lugar, estuvieron muy disponibles al momento de atendernos a las personas con las que fui. Los anfitriones son extranjeros, y curiosamente, nos recibieron como si fueran personas nacionales de Costa Rica. Me llama mucho la atención, que alguien pueda dar buena atención, estando fuera de su país de origen.

¡Es un buen lugar para pasar algunos días de descanso!

Nous sommes restés 4 nuits dans le rancho et ça a été une agreable expérience.

Les points positifs :
- l accueil de Michel et sa famille.
- la piscine et le jardin sont très agreables.
- la situation de Matapalo, proche de toutes les plages, tres facile pour rayonner tout en etant preservé de la foule.
- L équipement du rancho pour faire la cuisine, ventilateur, climatisation dans la chambre.

On entend un peu l environnement autour de la chambre etant donné que les murs sont en partie ouverts mais cela ne nous a pas derangé et fais partie de l expérience.

Rancho Matambú es un lugar muy acogedor y perfecto para pasar unas lindas vacaciones con un estilo único por sus muebles de madera en sala y cocina. Buena ubicación para visitar las mejores playas de Guanacaste como playa grande, flamingo, conchal y otras! Patrick y Mina siempre fueron atentos y amables. Definitivamente un lugar que recomiendo para ir en familia y todos aquellos que quieran un lugar rodeado de árboles, linda vista y tranquilo!

nous passés en famille il y quelques semaine, l'endroit est calme et agréable, Michel est disponible, a l'écoute et très sympa. nous avons apprécié la climatisation dans la chambre principale.

Un lugar muy tranquilo y lindo para descansar. Excelente para surfear en playa grande y visitar las playas cercanas. Excelente ubicación. El anfitrión es una excelente persona! Todo super pura vida!

Muy tranquilo, buen ambiente.

We were staying in Rancho Matambu for one month. When we came there, it was gorgeous place. I felt it as a hidden jam comparing with busy Tamarindo. Michael is amazing host and be met us and picked up to the rancho. He really made everything for our safe and pleasant stay.

After 2 weeks of our stay, Michael sold out the rancho. Please pay attention that the previous reviews are about this host and he is amazing. I would like to share with you current situation.

During 2 weeks none came to clean the territory or pool. When we requested to throw the trash at least, we received the answer that it’s a budget place and we could do it by ourselves. New owner never came and manager was extremely rude with us. Additionally, one day we came back and our room was unlocked. So you should take care of your personal stuff as it could be stolen.

Additionally, we had a huge concern about safety, because the different people have access to the property. Please be careful!
