Recently, we were fortunate enough to discover a slice of paradise at Villas Kalei, nestled in the heart of Playa Grande, in the Guanacaste Province of Costa Rica. This resort didn’t just meet our expectations, it surpassed them, providing a sanctuary that truly felt like a second home.

The proprietors, Jeisha and Marcos Vazquez, are not just hosts but architects of an unforgettable experience. Their dedication to guest satisfaction is evident in every detail, from the meticulously designed and landscaped property that harmonizes with the stunning natural beauty of the surroundings, to their invaluable local insights on the best restaurants, tours, and hidden gems in the nearby beach towns.

The villas are a testament to luxury and comfort, offering very spacious interiors, private gardens, and the unique feature of an outdoor shower, complementing the conventional indoor one. The open-air communal kitchen is one of our favorite spots, where we enjoyed our morning coffee while watching monkeys frolic in the trees.

The location of Villas Kalei is nothing short of perfect. A stone’s throw away from a fresh produce market, top-notch restaurants, and the pristine Playa Grande beach, it offers convenience without compromising on tranquility.

Villas Kalei was a little peaceful get away for my husband, me, and my kiddo.
We were greeted by very the very gracious hosts- Jeisha and Marcos who made us feel so welcome. The Villas are thoughtfully designed, decorated adorably and the perfect space for the three of us. We felt like we had privacy and felt very safe in their gated property. We spotted howler monkeys each morning and evening. I enjoyed my coffee on my patio listening to the surrounding nature and got plenty of sun by the pool. The Villas could be booked for a group of friends and family and we are already looking at when we can come back! We only stayed two nights but wish we could have stayed a whole week!

Absolutely stunning property, wonderful and attentive hosts, and very clean rooms. I couldn’t recommend this place enough and can’t wait to go back!

The location is very close to Playa Grande where we surfed and ate at plenty of great restaurants. We also took the recommendation from Marcos to go to Playa Minas which was an incredible beach.

The second you walk into Villas Kalei, you can tell how much thought and care Jeisha and Marcos have put into the hotel. It's beautifully designed, private, and lush. The villas themselves are gorgeous but so are the grounds. We loved the pool area and thought the communal kitchen was really clever; it was so nice to have access to a full kitchen. While we felt super safe in Playa Grande, it made us feel even better being able to park behind the gate. Playa Grande is great, too! Casual and small, but with great restaurants, shops and beach. Jeisha and Marcos were great hosts and had stellar suggestions.

We stayed in a luxurious villa nestled among thoughtfully designed landscape. You'll feel like you're embraced by nature while simultaneously relaxing in air-conditioned comfort. Jeisha and Marcos are friendly and accommodating hosts. It was fun to talk with them and get to know them a bit during our stay. The shared kitchen is a nice touch, providing space to prepare our own meals and visit with other guests. The pool was perfect to relax in the evening after a day of beach or other excursions. The beach and plenty of great restaurants are within easy walking distance. I highly recommend Villas Kalei!

Villas Kalei is a one of a kind dream vacation. Jeisha and Marcos go above and beyond with every detail you can imagine. The location is perfectly secluded and beautiful. The Villas and grounds are immaculate and so inviting. Weather you just want to relax and unplug or go on adventures, they have it all. The sunsets at Playa Grande are spectacular as well. From the moment we arrived, we were met by Jeisha and Marcos and welcomed to their place of paradise. Booking was easy and they communicated with us several times before we arrived so we knew everything was set for our visit. The grounds were tranquil and peaceful in a gorgeous tropical setting filled with wild life. Our villa was private, comfortable and provided all the amenities we needed for our three night stay. My favorite was waking up early to walk to the outdoor kitchen to make coffee, sit by the pool and be greeted by the howler monkeys and birds. Marcos and Jeisha provided several suggestions for dining and activities nearby. Jeisha recommended her favorite hike to a waterfall and it ended up being one of our favorite days in Costa Rica - and a great place to keep cool during the hot day before returning for dinner and an evening swim in the pool. This place is amazing. The owner are very friendly and they really take care of you. Playa Grande is a 10 to 15 min walking distance. Grete surf, great town. I will recommend this place not for surf and stay only, great family spot, honeymoon and vacations.

Highly recommend Villas Kalei! The setting is beautiful and Jeisha and Marcos are excellent hosts. It's in a great location, close to the beach and surrounded with gorgeous landscaping. We really loved seeing the Howler monkeys hanging out in the trees around the villas. The shared kitchen was also awesome!

We had a beautiful stay in at Villas Kalei in the Villa Coqui. Everything is beautiful. There’s an amazing shared kitchen and the rooms are beautiful. The layout of the bathroom is amazing. This is the most quiet and relaxing place I’ve ever stayed. My surfers 🏄‍♀ were really happy 😃

The Villa and all of its shared spaces were impeccably clean, smelled amazing, was very tranquil and Jeisha and Marcos made us feel like family! The pool felt great and we loved getting to see the howler monkey family that live at the property! My wife and I rented e-bikes to get around at the hotel’s recommendation and that was awesome too!! I definitely recommend doing that to make the most of your time if you don’t plan on renting a car. We can’t wait to come back! Thank you Jeisha and Marco for everything!! I am blessed by the man upstairs and have been given the great opportunity to travel. From my travels, Marcos and Jeisha have been the most kind hearted staff/hosts I have ever met. I feel honored to have met them and call the beautiful Villlas Kalei home in Costa Rica.

Each room is amazing, clean and well taken care of. The Villas are absolutely wonderful with plenty of room, nice showers and enjoy the outdoor chairs for UNO game night. The whole property is secluded and relaxing with the sounds of animal life echoing just at the right moments :) Villas Kalei is just a short 2 min drive or short walk to the great town of Playa Grande. Playa Grande is the perfect little beach town. It’s laid back, has kind people, good food and big waves. My wife and I are sad to go back to cold Idaho but we are extremely thankful we got to stay at Villas Kalei and look forward to bringing our future kids to this wonderful place. Pura Vida!!

Couldn’t recommend Villas Kalei more. It’s really well located but also tucked away from any noise, other than birds, monkeys and other nature. The rooms are so well thought out and private but build with and around nature. The couple who run it were so lovely and really helped us with everything we needed. Great value for money and would definitely look to stay with them again

Villas Kalei, Jeisha and Marcos the hosts, and Costa Rica far exceeded every expectation that we had for each. The Villas were perfect, with 4 individual Villas lining a paved pathway through the property. The kitchen is well equipped and had everything we needed for a week stay. Jeisha and Marcos were incredibly nice and helpful. Offering many suggestions for tours that ended up blowing us away. Our group will not hesitate to come back, although we don't repeat places! You will not be disappointed. It's walking distance to Playa Grande and all the local fare, not far to Las Catalinas and the surrounding Tamarindo. We even took a long 3 hour trip to the Bioluminescent tours which was convenient to get to and easy to get back! Book this place!!

An amazing 5-day stay!

Firstly, the villas are absolutely beautiful. The drive from Liberia airport was quite easy and scenic. Upon arrival we were greeted by Jeisha and Marcos, who advised us on places to eat and things to do in the Playa Grande area. They also showed us around the shared outside kitchen/dining area. It was exactly as pictured online!

The room was spacious with panoramic window views of your surroundings. Which include, lush greenery and the sounds of nature (especially the howler monkeys).

Villas Kalei is a nature lover’s dream with very kind, hospitable hosts. I enjoyed every bit of this vacation whether in or out of the villa. Pura Vida!

Wonderful cozy place to stay in Playa Grande. Clean rooms/cabins with nice design touches (outdoor shower, big sliding doors that open up the rooms). It’s a newer property so everything is in new condition. Just 4 cabins on the property. Pool was great! Jeisha and Marcos are such kind, welcoming hosts. Close to the beach for daily surfing and near a few great local spots like Pots and Bowls, Casa Inti, and a gym. Stay here if you’re visiting Playa Grande!

Villas Kalei are so beautiful and we loved everything about it! Beautiful touches in the rooms, excellent food close by and very peaceful. Very close to playa grande which was our favorite beach to hang out and watch the sunset. The owners are so kind and very helpful in recommending places for food/activities. There’s also a group of monkeys that hang out in the trees around the property so that was fun to see. Hope we will be back!
