Had the carne asada tacos and fajita burrito. Both were excellent! The hot sauce was really good. Can’t beat the atmosphere or view…right on the beach. Service was good, but the waiter seemed unamused at being at work. It was like he was tired and just wanted to go home, while the rest of us are having the time of our life. def worth checking out.

This place is the true spirit of the Caribbean. The furnishings, music and the sea gives the drinks and the food, that is excellent on it's own, an extra dimension. A true gem in Puerto Viejo and a place worth a visit.

The guacamole was amazing.

Great Cubano sándwich and the Curry Humus was awesome. Cool little spot to knock back a craft beer as well.

Puerto Pirata is one of our favorite casual spots in PV to catch the sunset colors with a snack and a drink. We got there just as the afternoon rain stopped and the sky began to light up.

Their menu has something for everyone. Maybe you're thinking the Tiki Bar theme will hurt the food quality? Nope. Even the basics are tasty and we'll be back again.

There may not be much beach on a low tide, so get there early if you want to get a table for sunset.

Sit back and enjoy your favorite drink while enjoying the sounds of Marley and the views of the beautiful carribean beach. Try the curry hummus, which is served with delicious vegetables and chips. The food here is amazing.

Amazing spot for sunset and after dark fun! We went for happy hour and the deals were PHENOMENAL. The cocktails are to die for- try the green jaguar; it’s an amazing frozen basil, rum, and passion fruit cocktail, you WON’T be disappointed. We met the owner and he is so nice; nothing but good vibes all around! There was live music and a fire show on Saturday— a MUST visit during your stay!

This place is so fun! Staff were friendly and the beach view was awesome. Their menu is also great; I enjoyed reading all the creative names for their drinks. My group enjoyed the Funky Monkey and Painkiller cocktails. I also had a banana/chocolate/peanut butter smoothie (the Hunky Monkey) that was absolutely delicious. The poke bowls are also out of this world. Definitely worth a stop if you're visiting Puerto Viejo.

We had the volcano bowl and what a pleasure! The portion size was just right and it has a ton of vegetables which are seasoned very lightly. It makes a wonderful lunch to have even if it is under the scorching Puerto Viejo heat.

What a location, by the sea. We had lovely lunch. I had Surfer burrito with Chili lime shrimp, cabbage, avocado. and rice. My partner had
Zenwich wirh coconut curry paste,l humus, avocado, spinach with salsa verde. My grandchild had Nachos and guacamole. W also had cold coffee and smoothie. all was great

Amazing beach front place with a relaxed atmosphere. Tables literally on the beach. Great food, drinks and friendly and quick service. Vegan options available. When I was there a live band was playing carribean music. Lots of people in and around the bar listening, dancing and simply haveing a great time. If I stayed longer in the area I'd definitely be back.

Our first cocktail on the beach after our arrival in Puerto Viejo was at piratas, and we went back almost every day after that! The location is perfect as it's on the beach: holiday vibes at their must. Great spot to watch the sunset whilst having a drink - they very often have live bands and their cocktails are simply delicious with their exotic taste and frozen texture. My favourite was the piña colada but with cacique (local liquor). The local cocktail called coco loco is delicious too and easy to drink. My boyfriend's favourite was the funky monkey and I have to admit I've taken more than one sip every time he ordered it! The passion fruit mojito is also delicious.
Great spot also to hang during the day and do some snorkelling whilst enjoying a custom made smoothie!
Food-wise, we tried their bruschettas, guacamole, chicken tacos and big jerk burrito and everything was good. Plus the staff is friendly and they have good WiFi connexion. We highly recommend this place!

Definitely come here!! healthy smoothies, and yummy food. I got the peanut butter cacao shake and the banana pancakes and absolutely adored the indulgence! My husband got the avocado toast and the mango milkshake which was phenomenal. We also got Coco loco a little later and enjoyed the coconut cocktail.
Sat on the sand at a table / booth, we learned was “Cleos Corner” Abuela of Puerto Viejo. She sat down with us and treated us like family.

Great food with reasonable prices. Great location. However sometimes the kitchen might be closed unannounced in the middle of the day

We stayed in the hotel right across the road from this place. We happened to come on a Friday, so there was a party going on right next door. The view was beautiful l and the food and drinks were good. I wish the chairs had more padding (only because I had a really bad sunburn on my back and butt, so I probably would have been uncomfortable regardless 🤷🏼‍♀) The staff was very friendly and helpful. I didnt have to use the bathroom, so I dont know about that.

Used to hang out here while in Puerto Viejo - the ambience is nice, music is good as well as the drinks and the delicious guacamole 🥰. Chill place and you can see the sunset from the bar.

Best place to hang out in Puerto Viejo. Right at the beach, nice sunsets, nice food, nice drinks, friendly staff. Understaffed (as all bars and restaurants were understaffed in the whole country, because of covid)

Amazing location with a spectacular view. Food was the best we have had in Puerto Viejo so far. The aïoli, guacamole and plantain chips with the shrimp tacos was superb with a perfect balance of flavor. The Tropical Tiki Bowl was equally tasty.

Nice beach bar , view of chino beach , great cocktails and juices - food good too, nice vibe .

We only came here for drinks and it did not disappoint. We got a Pina colada and a drink called the drunk monkey. Omg were they good. The drunk monkey especially. It had banana and chocolate. The food did look good but we had other dinner plans. I would definitely come back here for lunch and drinks! Beautiful views also!
