NuRaw Restaurant and Café - Reservations Required

We tried many Restaurants during our stay in Costa Rica, but this was by far the best! We went there 4 times, it was always perfect and really delicious. We even had some special wishes, which were no problem at all. You can see how the food is prepared fresh next to you. Also the atmosphere in the restaurant is really beautiful. You can go there for lunch or dinner and should try it 100%!

Firstly, we have to apologise to Rafael for the lateness of the review. So sorry, its been a crazy few months!

Rafael, you and your mum, made this experience UNFORGETTABLE for us. The setting, food, and company were beyond what me and my partner expected. We came here on our anniversary with the view to have a nice vegan dinner and we were not disappointed with this family run piece of paradise.

For starters, we had a Beets Gazpacho, which was a very flavoursome chilled soup. The ingredients used felt wholesome and fresh, the portion size was huge so I was not able to finish it, however it made for a great lunch for the next day!

Our main meals were a lush pesto-ccinie with artichokes and mushrooms and no-meat tart with mash potato and veggies – again, the ingredients tasted very fresh, with flavours we wont forget. The meat taste was divine, it still baffles me that it was vegan, it was so nice and chewy. Rafael said he did not have any culinary schooling in the past but you'd be mistaken to think he was a Michelin chef. Not only were the flavours perfect, the texture of the food was amazing.

Last but not least, the dessert! Well, if you thought Rafael’s sweet plates may not be as good as his savoury food, you would be very wrong. We decided to share a carrot cake, but you guessed it, the kind Rafael also gave us the raw vegan avo-lime tart with compliments - it was delicious. Perfect end to the amazing dining experience!

We did not stay at the property but Rafael showed us around the rooms. This, like the food, seemed to have every aspect thought of. A form of light therapy was used for the rooms, changing the hues to match the time of day. There was still some work going on at our time of visiting but I assume this will look as amazing as the rest of the place. We also walked around the grounds of the hotel which is still under construction - he's building an amphitheatre\yoga haven, there's a running peaceful stream behind the property, and a gorgeous pool and relaxation area. I promise you, give it a few months to a year or so, this place will blow up and go viral. And we are so so grateful that we got to experience the Vayu NuRaw when it was all starting up. We got very lucky. And we hope when Rafael comes to the UK with his mom we can show him around too!

Rafael, you have created a haven for people wanting to get away from the stresses of life! We are massively proud of what you’ve made here and wish you the best with your journey. If we are lucky enough to come to Costa Rica again, we know exactly the place to come - let’s just hope you have space for us! I made a lunch reservation here after seeing the sign for Nu Raw while driving back and forth to our rental house further up the mountain. What a wonderful experience! I had the French toast with Nutella, and my husband had a breakfast quesadilla. Both were fresh, hot, flavorful, and delicious! I had a refreshing orange-and-carrot juice, while my husband had the Collective Arts POG sour beer to drink -- both were excellent. The coffee and smoothie menus looked very appealing as well! The setting is gorgeous, like sitting poolside at a private spa. Mark was a gracious, knowledgeable, and fun host, and we really enjoyed chatting with him! 100% recommend. Of note, the Vayu Villas hotel, where the restaurant is located, looks like a gorgeous place to stay!

If you only have a day to spend in the area of ​​Tres Rios, Uvita, Ojochal, Manuel Antonio or Dominical, and you are wondering where to spend a particularly romantic and delicious evening, call and book this place. This is One of the best culinary experiences we've had in Costa Rica over the past two years.

We arrived on a special day to celebrate a personal event, the hosts guided us on WhatsApp, and treated us with delicacies combined with stories about the place and the surrounding area.

We were pleasantly surprised by the variety and richness of the dishes adapted for vegans, we couldn't decided and chose to order a few small dishes to taste as many as possible.

The restaurant is on the ground floor of a boutique hotel, the entire complex is new and very well maintained, the restaurant itself is designed to high standards and on the other hand, thanks to its warmth, feels as if the chef himself is hosting us in his home.

We started with a delicious mediterranean chilled Beet Gazpacho soup, We did wisely to order two portions!

All the ingredients that made up the dishes were of high quality and fresh.

The meal was accompanied by Spanish Sauvignon Blanc and Bobal wines.

We ordered a large tortilla, Hummus Pesto Wrap, filled with sautéed mushrooms & caramelized onion.

Raw Beet Ravioli with Almond Thyme Pâté

we ordered two deserts that were already far beyond what we could eat: Raw Vegan Avo-Lime Tart and Raw Vegan Carrot Cake but everything was so delicious and we couldn't refuse, so we asked to relieve ourselves with a premium coffee from one of best local farms.

When the bill was presented, we were pleasantly surprised again, the price paid compared to the quantity and quality was decent.

Gorgeously decorated hidden gem. The details are stunning, the food was yummy, & the atmosphere was so lovely. The owner was super sweet & the service was excellent. Great unique menu options!

So So SO happy to have discovered this little gem just down the road from Pura Vida Ecolodge - just what the area needed! A beautiful little restaurant with very tasteful earthy decor, offering a wide variety of vegetarian, vegan and raw plant-based dishes, not forgetting a nice array of Costa Rican craft beers! Everything we ordered was beautifully plated and tasted fantastic and we were greeted with open arms and warm smiles from our arrival. We'll be back very soon and in the meantime, will be shouting from the trees about this little gem. G R A C I A S

My wife and I ate here several times during our honeymoon vacation and we were always pleased with the food! Always a great selection, fresh food with lots of flavor! Highly recommended!
